Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, achieved a remarkable feat on Wednesday, winning two prestigious awards.
In London, United Kingdom, on September 6, 2023, the Oscar-nominated artist secured the Trailblazer Award at the ELLE Style Awards. Tems was present to graciously accept the honor, which was presented by the BAFTA-winning actress Naomi Ackie and BBC Radio 1 host Julie Adenuga.
During her acceptance speech, the talented 'Essence' singer expressed her gratitude to her upbringing in Lagos, Nigeria, and her faith, acknowledging their significant roles in her successful career journey.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic, Tems was recognized as the Songwriter of the Year at the 2023 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards. This prestigious accolade was bestowed upon her at the LIV Nightclub in Miami Beach, also on September 6, 2023. Her exceptional songwriting contributions to 'Free Mind,' Rihanna's 'Lift Me Up,' and Future and Drake's 'Wait For U' earned her this well-deserved recognition.
