Prophet Austin Ariole, the General Overseer of Goshen Freedom Tabernacle (GFT) in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, has asserted that Naira Marley was not responsible for the death of the singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad. Instead, he claimed that the culprits behind Mohbad's demise were witches from the deceased's own family.
Ariole made these assertions during a prayer meeting of the Upper Room team of Goshen Freedom Tabernacle in Effurun, held on a Tuesday.
Expressing his anguish over Mohbad's untimely passing, he criticized the Church for failing to take adequate measures to safeguard the young musician, even though the Church should have been a sanctuary.
He stated, "I don't usually follow worldly musicians, but I took an interest in this one. While praying last night, God revealed to me that Naira Marley did not kill Mohbad. It was witches from his own village who took his life."
The prophet elaborated that these witches had foreseen Mohbad's promising future, leading them to extinguish his life prematurely.
In addition to expressing condolences to the grieving family, Prophet Ariole criticized Mohbad's father, suggesting that despite people seeking spiritual refuge in mountains for the sake of their children, the father had not done enough to protect his son.
He expressed concern that the father seemed more focused on financial aspects related to the burial rather than addressing the tragedy itself.
Our source had previously reported suspicions pointing toward Naira Marley and Larry Sammy as suspects in Mohbad's death, which led to radio stations imposing an indefinite ban on Naira Marley's music.
A nationwide movement advocating for justice for the late Mohbad has also been gaining momentum.
Meanwhile, the police have initiated investigations and are planning to exhume Mohbad's body for an autopsy to provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding his demise.
