Walkout protest: Ten Hag drops Ronaldo from the squad facing Chelsea

Following Ronaldo’s walkout protest during the game against Spurs, Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has dropped him from the squad that will be playing Chelsea in London at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Recall that Ronaldo walked away from the bench before full time as Manchester United beat Spurs 2-0 on Wednesday, courtesy of goals by Fred and Bruno Fernandes. 

He was upset at the Ten Hag’s decision not use him as substitute in the second half of the match.

After the game, the United boss insisted he would “deal with” Ronaldo on Thursday, where it was confirmed he would not feature in Saturday’s trip to Stamford Bridge.

A club statement read: “Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”
