Steven Gerrard, sacked as Head Coach by Aston Villa

On Thursday, Steven Gerrard was relieved of his job as Head Coach of Aston Villa following a 3-0 defeat to Fulham in the English Premier League on the same day. The club announced the ex-England and Liverpool legend’s exit from the club in a statement shortly after the match.

The statement reads in part as follows: “Aston Villa Football Club can confirm that head coach Steven Gerrard has left the club with immediate effect.”

“We would like to thank Steven for his hard work and commitment and wish him well for the future,” it added.

Gerrard returned to the EPL to coach Aston Villa at the beginning of the season.

Aston Villa is 17th on the EPL log, two points from the relegation zone. Under Gerrard’s watch, they have garnered only nine points in 11 games.
