As the Ghana Galaxies prepare to do battle with the Nigerian Super Eagles B on Saturday in the second leg clash of their African Nations Championship qualifier, the Galaxies are not leaving anything to chance.
Nollywood Times reported that Ghana beat Nigeria 2-0 in the first leg in Cape Coast Stadium, Ghana on Sunday last week.
The Ghanaians are not taking chances as their FA has to have them cancel their friendly match against FC Samartex to ensure they are focused on the Saturday battle. They made the announcement via their Twitter handle.
The body said they canceled the friendly to enable the Galaxies focus on their all-important clash against Nigeria at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday. The tweet read, “The Black Galaxies friendly match against FC Samartex 1996 has been cancelled. The team will continue with preparations for their return encounter against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Abuja.”
Ghana has a 2-0 advantage from the first leg and set to finish what they started when they get to Nigeria during the second leg.

The Salisu Yusuf’s men need to score three goals without conceding any in the Saturday clash to qualify. If they fail to do that, it would be the second time Ghana stopped Nigeria from proceeding to major competitions in six months. Recall the Black Stars denied the Super Eagles the World Cup ticket to Qatar 2022 earlier this year.
The next year’s edition of the CHAN tournament will be held in Algeria.
