The Police authorities, on Wednesday, released names of the officers who carried out the raid at the Abuja residence of Chief Edwin Clark, elder statesman and the leader of Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF.
It could be recalled that on Tuesday, it was reported some police officers had invaded Chief Clark’s residence Abuja to allegedly “search for weapons and and incriminating items.”
The search according to media reports did not yield any result as nothing incriminating was found. However, in a swift response to the issue, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, the Inspector General of Police, denied ordering his men for the operation.
The Force spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood on his part, said the police was misled by a bogus informant, that, there were incriminating items at Clark’s home.Moshood said the officers who carried out the unauthorised search are likely to be punished for their action, while the informant would be arraigned in court shortly.
The PRO said, “Three police inspectors are currently facing orderly room trial, while an assistant superintendent has been queried.”
According to the PRO, the names of those involved in the illegal raid include; David Dominic (an Assistant Superintendent of Police who presumably led the team); Godwin Musa, Sada Abubakar and Yabo Paul (all Inspectors).

The Force PRO however, noted that the police have powers to search any home in the country, but said such actions have guidelines.
“Where any officer fails to comply with the procedure in the course of executing a warrant, such an officer must be made to face the consequences of violating the rule of law,” Moshood stated.
