A longtime friend of skitmaker Cute Abiola has expressed disappointment over the state of their friendship, alleging that things changed between them after the comedian became successful.
The man, who posted old photographs showing the two of them together, recalled the bond they shared before fame and success came into the picture. He suggested that the closeness they once enjoyed has gradually faded, leaving him questioning what happened to the friendship they had built over the years.
According to him, his complaint has nothing to do with money or expecting Cute Abiola to share his wealth with him. He stressed that he understands that everyone has personal responsibilities and that nobody is obligated to solve another person's problems simply because they were once close.
However, he believes there is a difference between asking someone for financial assistance and expecting them to maintain a genuine friendship. He explained that sometimes, all a person needs is the same love, attention and sense of brotherhood that existed before life took a different turn.
He also questioned why a friendship that survived difficult times would suddenly become less important when one person begins to enjoy success while the other is still trying to find his feet.
In his words:
"This is not entitlement. This is about loyalty, brotherhood and genuine friendship.
I have read some of the comments on my throwback video, and I feel the need to clear something up. This has never been about entitlement, or expecting anyone to share their success with me.
I am not saying anybody owes me their success. I am not asking anyone to carry my responsibilities or fight my battles for me. But sometimes, brotherly love means more than just words.
If we were brothers when we had nothing, why should the bond suddenly become meaningless when one person is struggling and the others are succeeding?
This is not entitlement. This is about loyalty, brotherhood and genuine friendship."
The man maintained that his expectations are not about enjoying the benefits of someone else's hard work but about not losing a meaningful relationship because of changes in status.
He believes that genuine friendship should not be dependent on how much someone has achieved or what they can offer at a particular point in life. For him, the memories and experiences shared before success should still count for something.
His complaint also reflects the disappointment of someone who feels that the closeness he once enjoyed with a friend is no longer there. Rather than asking for a share of the comedian's achievements, he appears to want the brotherhood they once had to remain intact.
