Junior Ubiribo, son of late businessman Tiny Ubiribo, has revisited the events surrounding his father's burial, expressing displeasure over Cubana Chief Priest's conduct at the graveside and the disagreements that affected his involvement in the funeral arrangements.
He also recounted the family disagreements that left him out of the funeral planning and accused members of SPAC Nation of using the occasion for publicity.
One incident that particularly upset Junior was a video showing Cubana Chief Priest at his father's grave. He took issue with the barman's casual attitude in the footage, especially his comment about being at the cemetery while displaying his expensive Richard Mille wristwatch.
Junior explained that the video remains difficult for him to watch because of what he considers a lack of respect for the occasion.
In his words:
“My dad’s funeral was h£ll on earth, not just because there was a f@t w£irdo at my dad’s grave who was like, ‘Cemetery chilling, yeah.’
“Every time I see that video, it puts me in sh0ck because of the lack of empathy. He was like, ‘Cemetery chilling, yeah,’ showing off his Richard Mille.”
Beyond his concerns about Cubana Chief Priest, Junior spoke about the strained relationship with his father's wife before the burial. He alleged that she removed him from the family group chat, effectively shutting him out of conversations and decisions concerning the funeral.
He admitted that he also contributed to the disagreement by insulting her but explained that their problems started when he asked what would happen to his father's other children.
According to Junior, his father's wife told him that the late businessman had little money left and was broke. He also recalled her discussing plans to focus on him alone and buy him a house. Looking back, he suspects the promises were an attempt to get him to stop asking questions about his siblings and their interests.
He further questioned her decision to request security for the funeral, saying he could not understand why anyone would need protection at such an event or who she expected to cause trouble.
The burial itself also left him disappointed. Junior said several people in attendance were unfamiliar to him, including some of the men present. He also felt that the music, coffin and general arrangements did not reflect his father's personality or the kind of farewell he deserved.
He suggested that the way his father was presented at the ceremony gave him the impression that someone was deliberately trying to diminish his image because of past disagreements.
Junior later claimed that many of the unfamiliar attendees were connected to SPAC Nation, a London-based church that has previously faced controversies surrounding its leadership and finances.
He accused members of the group of taking advantage of the burial to attract attention rather than attending simply to honour his father.
Expressing his frustration, he said:
“SPAC Nation infiltrated my father’s funeral like rats. They came to use my father’s funeral for clout.”
