Media entrepreneur Mo Abudu has appointed five Nollywood stars, including Iyabo Ojo, Bimbo Ademoye and Odunlade Adekola, as executive producers of her upcoming film, The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives.
The announcement was made on Monday, November 2, 2026, through a statement shared on Abudu’s Instagram page. Other actors named for the executive production roles are Mercy Aigbe and Omowunmi Dada.
The appointments will see the five entertainers take on responsibilities beyond their acting roles, with contributions to the creative direction, strategic development and international distribution of the production.
They will work alongside an existing executive production team comprising Mo Abudu, Nnaeto Orazalike, Moses Babatope, Guy Murray-Bruce, Cecil Hammond and Keke Hammond.
Odunlade Adekola, who portrays the central character, Baba Segi, described his appointment as an opportunity to contribute more extensively to the project.
He said his involvement as an executive producer would enable him to help determine how the story is presented and received by audiences beyond Africa.
The actor also expressed his desire to support the film's international reach, noting that the production offers an opportunity to showcase an African story to viewers across different parts of the world.
The project is particularly significant for EbonyLife Films as it marks the company's return to cinema production after a seven-year break.
Directed by Daniel Oriahi, the movie is adapted from the acclaimed novel of the same title written by Lola Shoneyin and published in 2010.
The story centres on Baba Segi, a wealthy man whose seemingly established polygamous household begins to experience tension following the arrival of his fourth wife, an educated woman whose presence challenges existing family relationships.
Through its storyline, the production examines issues surrounding marriage, polygamy, gender expectations, family secrets and the struggle for survival within a complex household.
The film is expected to arrive in African cinemas on December 4, 2026. Its international and diaspora theatrical release is scheduled for December 11.
With an established cast and a production team drawn from different areas of the Nigerian entertainment industry, the adaptation is expected to introduce Lola Shoneyin's widely read story to a broader cinema audience.
