Davido's aide, Israel DMW, has responded to VeryDarkMan's allegations linking the singer and some members of his circle to discussions about his arrest during the controversy surrounding late singer Mohbad.
VeryDarkMan had spoken about how his relationship with Davido fell apart, alleging that he discovered a WhatsApp group where some individuals allegedly discussed plans to have him arrested in 2024.
According to VDM, the discovery left him questioning Davido's involvement, especially because he considered the singer a friend at the time.
He alleged that the discussions were connected to his campaign for justice for Mohbad and his position on Naira Marley, who was facing intense public scrutiny following the singer's death.
VDM also claimed that he tried reaching Davido after discovering the alleged conversations but could not get through to him. He said the situation became more uncomfortable when a blog suggested that he wanted to record a conversation with Davido for blackmail purposes.
Explaining why the situation affected their relationship, VDM said:
“One thing that brought us together is the same thing that divided us, right? What is it? Justice for Mohbad.”
He also raised questions about the actions of people around Davido during the period, particularly their alleged involvement in conversations about his arrest.
However, Israel DMW has now disputed the claims, insisting that Davido was neither involved in Naira Marley's troubles during the Mohbad case nor part of any arrangement to get VDM arrested.
In his response, Israel explained that the people who participated in the alleged WhatsApp group did so without Davido's knowledge or approval.
He also questioned the claims that Davido had issues with Samklef, wanted Mohbad's music catalogue or attempted to sign Zinoleesky.
Israel further maintained that Davido refused to unfollow Naira Marley on Instagram despite pressure from people around him at the time. According to him, the singer wanted the police to handle the investigation rather than rely on allegations.
He wrote:
“Dearest Nigerians, my Oga had no hand in Naira Marley’s ordeals during his trying times in the Mohbad case or in any plot to have VDM arrested.
Those who were in that WhatsApp group got there without his instructions or approval.
Why would Oga be joining issues with Samklef? Did Oga call for Mohbad’s catalogue or even attempt to sign Zino? How na? Those who told VDM that fully lied.
Serious pressure was put on Oga at the time to unfollow Naira on Instagram, but he categorically refused.
He said he wanted the police to do their job and did not want to believe hearsay.
Naira and Oga are 100% cool. They even made a hit song together.
Regarding the incident at Naira’s house, it was our then Tolu 30BG who had an issue with one of Naira’s boys. Nobody was beaten or attacked.
Thank you all.”
Israel also addressed the alleged incident at Naira Marley's residence, saying the disagreement involved Tolu 30BG and one of Naira's associates, adding that nobody was beaten or attacked.
His response directly challenges VDM's account of what happened and separates Davido from the alleged activities of people in the WhatsApp group.
While VeryDarkMan maintains that the discovery contributed to the breakdown of his relationship with Davido, Israel insists that the singer had no involvement in the alleged plan.
