Nollywood is preparing for an eventful December 2026 as several highly anticipated productions line up for release across cinemas and streaming platforms. With established filmmakers, popular actors and major production companies attached to the projects, the festive season is expected to deliver a strong selection of Nigerian entertainment.

Among the titles generating attention are The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors, The Four: No One Fights Alone and Bestie. The films will arrive at different points in December, giving audiences a mixture of historical drama, action, comedy and contemporary storytelling.

The release schedule also reflects the growing competition between cinema distributors and streaming services as filmmakers seek to attract audiences during one of the busiest entertainment periods of the year.

The Secret Lives Of Baba Segi’s Wives – December 4

One of the major productions scheduled for the opening days of December is The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, produced by EbonyLife Group.

The film is a cinematic adaptation of Lola Shoneyin’s bestselling novel, which explores marriage, family relationships, secrets and the complexities of life in a polygamous household.

The story follows Baba Segi and his wives, whose seemingly established family arrangement is disrupted by revelations that expose hidden tensions and long-held secrets.

The upcoming adaptation features Odunlade Adekola and Bimbo Ademoye among its cast members. Their involvement has added to the interest surrounding the project, particularly among viewers familiar with the original novel.

The production is scheduled to arrive in Nigerian cinemas on December 4, 2026.

The adaptation will bring Shoneyin’s widely discussed literary work to the big screen, introducing its characters and themes to cinema audiences through a new visual interpretation.

Jagun Jagun 2: War Of Warriors – December 4

Also scheduled for December 4 is Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors, the sequel to the Yoruba epic film Jagun Jagun.

The production continues the story of ancient warfare, ambition, power struggles and combat, building on the historical and cultural setting that defined the first instalment.

Femi Adebayo returns to the project, alongside Lateef Adedimeji, as the sequel expands the story for audiences who followed the original film.

Unlike The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, which is scheduled for a cinema release, Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors will premiere on Netflix.

Its arrival will give subscribers an opportunity to continue following the epic story through the streaming platform.

The sequel is expected to attract viewers who enjoy Yoruba-language productions, historical storytelling and action-driven narratives.

The Four: No One Fights Alone – December 11

Funke Akindele is also preparing to enter the December cinema race with The Four: No One Fights Alone, scheduled for release on December 11, 2026.

The production features Akindele alongside veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD.

Akindele has established herself as one of Nollywood’s most commercially successful filmmakers, with productions such as Behind The Scenes, Everybody Loves Jenifa and A Tribe Called Judah recording impressive box office performances.

Her latest project is already attracting attention as audiences anticipate another major cinema release from the filmmaker.

With its December release date, The Four will compete for attention during the festive period, when many Nigerians traditionally visit cinemas to watch new films.

The involvement of Akindele and RMD also brings together two recognised figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Bestie – December 16

Another production expected to join the festive cinema lineup is Bestie, featuring Toyin Abraham and Sola Sobowale.

The film is scheduled to open in cinemas on December 16, 2026, placing it among the major releases arriving in the second half of the month.

Abraham has built a strong reputation as an actress, producer and filmmaker, with several of her productions attracting significant cinema audiences.

Sobowale, meanwhile, remains one of Nollywood’s recognised veteran performers, known for her roles across different genres.

Their appearance together is one of the notable attractions surrounding the upcoming production.

A Competitive Festive Season

With four major titles scheduled across cinemas and Netflix, December promises another busy period for Nollywood.

From literary adaptations and Yoruba epics to contemporary dramas, the lineup offers different entertainment choices for audiences.

The releases will also test the commercial strength of Nigerian films as producers compete for viewers during the holiday season.
