Nigerian comedian and preacher Woli Arole has criticised prophets who claim they predicted Toluwanisings’ death, questioning why they would make videos about such predictions while the singer’s loved ones are still mourning him.
Arole expressed his displeasure with the practice of recording videos to announce that a death had been foretold, saying he found it difficult to understand the reason behind such actions.
In his statement, he pointed out that a young man had died and that his family, friends and fans were still dealing with the loss. He questioned why some people would choose that moment to publicise claims that they had seen the death coming.
He said:
"I think it is very appalling, annoying and highly STUPID when we use prophecy to justify DEATH. A young man just died, friends, fans and families are still mourning and you're already doing a video of “I saw the death and it has happened”. So what’s the essence; VALIDATION and TRACTION. Nonsense, Rubbish, RADARADA.
Rest on ANGEL!!!".
The comedian's message was a direct criticism of those who use the death of another person to make claims about their prophetic abilities. He questioned whether such videos were meant to prove a point or attract attention.
Arole also made it clear that he was unhappy with the timing of these claims. With Toluwanisings’ death still being mourned by people who knew and admired him, the preacher challenged those choosing to speak about their predictions at that moment.
His comments come as some individuals reportedly claim they had foreseen the gospel singer’s death before it happened. However, such claims remain statements by the people making them and should not be taken as independently established facts.
For Arole, the issue is the decision to turn a person's death into an opportunity to seek recognition. His use of strong words in the statement showed how firmly he disagreed with the practice.
The singer’s death has left his family, friends and supporters mourning his loss. Arole’s message was directed at people who say they had prior knowledge of the tragedy and then choose to make public videos about it.
He ended his statement with a brief tribute to the late singer, writing, "Rest on ANGEL!!!".
Arole did not name the prophets he was criticising in the statement provided. His message, however, made his position well stated that he does not agree with using a d£@th to claim prophetic validation, particularly when those close to the deceased are still grieving.
