Popular Nigerian comedians Ayobami Ajewole, better known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, popularly known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals and media platforms circulating allegations linking them to the death of gospel minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, widely known as Toluwanisings.

Woli Agba disclosed the development in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday. The notice was issued by their legal representatives, Gemgold Solicitors, who warned against the publication and distribution of what they described as false and defamatory claims about the entertainers.

Lawyers reject allegations

The legal notice, dated October 23, 2026, strongly denied the allegations and described them as baseless and unfounded.

According to the solicitors, the claims were allegedly intended to damage the reputations of Woli Agba and Dele Omo Woli, expose them to public ridicule and create hostility against them.

“Our Clients’ attention has been drawn to certain defamatory publications and online broadcasts containing false, baseless, and malicious allegations against them,” the notice stated.

The lawyers further said the publications appeared calculated to tarnise the comedians’ hard-earned reputations and negatively affect how they are perceived by members of the public.

They specifically addressed allegations connecting their clients to Toluwanisings’ death, insisting that such claims had no factual foundation.

“We state categorically that these allegations, particularly those falsely associating our Clients with the demise of Toluwanisings, are entirely false, unsubstantiated, and unfounded,” the lawyers said.

Warning to publishers and social media users

Gemgold Solicitors also warned that the potential legal consequences would not be limited to the original creators of the alleged defamatory content.

The lawyers stated that anyone who creates, publishes, forwards or endorses material considered defamatory could be held liable under the law.

“Anyone who originates, publishes, forwards, or endorses defamatory material is equally liable under the law,” they stated.

The warning covers content shared across blogs, social media pages and other online platforms, including material originally posted by anonymous or untraceable accounts.

The solicitors therefore urged members of the public to stop circulating unverified claims concerning the two entertainers.

They also called on individuals who had already published the alleged defamatory material on their personal pages, blogs or social media platforms to remove the content.

Legal action threatened

The comedians, through their lawyers, maintained that they had reserved their legal rights and were prepared to pursue legal remedies against those who continued to spread the allegations.

The notice warned individuals and media organisations that continued publication or circulation could result in legal proceedings.

“Any individual, blog, media platform, or social media user who continues to publish, re-circulate, or broadcast false and defamatory content against our Clients will face swift legal action, including claims for substantial damages and injunctive relief under applicable civil and criminal laws,” the notice added.

The solicitors also appealed for responsible communication, urging members of the public to verify information before sharing it.

They stressed the importance of protecting people’s dignity and avoiding the spread of allegations that have not been established.

Wider controversy surrounding Toluwanisings’ death

The warning from Woli Agba and Dele Omo Woli comes amid wider controversy surrounding claims about the circumstances of Toluwanisings’ death.

The gospel minister’s death has generated discussions online, with various allegations and claims involving individuals in the Nigerian gospel music and entertainment communities circulating on social media.

However, the allegations connecting Woli Agba and Dele Omo Woli to the death have been firmly rejected by their legal representatives.

The situation also involves gospel singer Tope Alabi, who has separately threatened legal action over claims allegedly linking her to the deaths of Toluwanisings and other gospel ministers.

Tope Alabi also issues legal warning

Alabi’s lawyers, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, reportedly issued a cease-and-desist letter dated October 24, 2026, to a Canada-based pastor identified as Tayo Kumuyi, popularly known as Pastor Tayo Ministries.

The legal letter reportedly concerns publications allegedly linking Alabi to the deaths.

Titled “Cease and Desist: Malicious and Defamatory Publications and Threats Against Our Client,” the document described itself as a final notice and demanded that the alleged publications be removed.

The lawyers also reportedly demanded that the operators of the Pastor Tayo Ministries Facebook page issue a retraction and apology.

According to the letter, the page operators were given 24 hours to comply with the demands.

With both developments emerging within days of each other, the controversy has placed renewed attention on the responsibility of social media users and online publishers when discussing sensitive allegations involving public figures.

For now, Woli Agba and Dele Omo Woli have made their position clear through their lawyers: they deny the allegations and are prepared to pursue legal remedies against those who continue to circulate what they describe as defamatory claims.
