Veteran Nollywood stars Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, and Joke Silva are preparing to share the stage once again as they headline the theatrical production A Husband’s Wife at the upcoming Creative Africa Nexus Weekend (CANEX WKND) 2026 in Lagos.
The production, scheduled for Saturday, November 7, will begin at 5pm at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, formerly known as the National Theatre.
It will bring together two of Nigeria’s most respected acting talents for a performance expected to attract theatre enthusiasts and admirers of their longstanding careers.
The announcement was made by Joke Silva’s Lufodo Group through its official Instagram page on Thursday. The organisation shared promotional material for the play, confirming the participation of both actors and providing details of the scheduled performance.
The reunion holds particular significance because of the extensive professional history shared by RMD and Silva. Their relationship within the entertainment industry stretches back more than 40 years, during which they have collaborated on several screen and stage productions.
Over the years, their versatility has seen Silva portray different family relationships with RMD, including his daughter, mother and wife in various productions.
Their return to the stage together offers another opportunity for audiences to experience the chemistry and acting experience that have characterised their careers.
Beyond the performance, A Husband’s Wife will contribute to the broader cultural programme of CANEX WKND 2026, which is scheduled to take place in Lagos from November 5 to 8.
Organised by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the event is designed to connect creative professionals, investors, policymakers and business leaders from across Africa and the diaspora.
It also seeks to promote collaboration and create opportunities for investment in the continent’s growing creative economy.
This year’s programme will span several sectors, including filmmaking, music, fashion, literature, visual arts, crafts, design, gastronomy and sports.
Participants are also expected to engage in discussions and networking activities aimed at strengthening partnerships within the creative industries.
