Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has expressed excitement after officials of First Bank visited his home with money and other gifts, describing himself as an ambassador of the financial institution.

The street singer shared a video of the visit on his social media page, where he appreciated the bank for the gesture and declared that he had no regrets about banking with the institution. He also disclosed that the bank presented him with a point-of-sale (POS) machine and wanted to guide him on opening a dollar account.

In the video, Portable expressed gratitude to the bank officials for visiting him at home, adding that First Bank had become his favourite financial institution because of his banking experience.

He said, “First Bank came to greet me at home. They came with money. I am glad that you guys came to see me. I be First Bank ambassador. I don’t regret ever using First Bank.

“I went to London, America, and Canada; my bank statement—First Bank—I have printed it. Any money that enters my account goes straight to their bank. God bless them. They gave me POS and want me to open a dollar account.”

The singer’s latest comments come after he previously expressed dissatisfaction with the bank over the blocking of his account.

Portable’s Previous Dispute With First Bank

Last year, Portable called out First Bank over what he described as an attempted kidnapping, accusing the financial institution of tracking him after he demanded an explanation for the restriction placed on his account.

The singer also denied involvement in fraudulent activities while discussing the controversy. He claimed that the alleged N400bn in the account originated from his business transactions.

His latest video, however, showed a different tone, as he praised the bank and celebrated the visit by its officials.

Singer Recalls Experience With White Women In UK

Portable has also attracted attention with videos from his international trips. During a visit to the United Kingdom, the singer shared a video showing him sitting beside a white woman on a train, while another woman rubbed his head.

The footage generated reactions from social media users, with the singer appearing to enjoy the attention he received during the trip.

Beyond his music career, Portable has repeatedly made headlines for his outspoken comments, public confrontations and bold claims about his achievements.

Portable Says He Wants To Surpass Anthony Joshua

In another development, the singer recently expressed interest in boxing, declaring that he wanted to become bigger than Nigerian-born British boxing champion Anthony Joshua.

Portable has continued to project confidence in his abilities, often making statements that generate conversations among his fans and critics.

During a discussion on the Olodo Uprising debate, he also questioned why people described him as an ‘Olodo’, arguing that his achievements at his age showed otherwise.

The singer listed his reported property ownership, marriage and possession of a 10-year Canadian work permit among the accomplishments he believed distinguished him from his critics.

Singer Opens Up About Financial Struggles

In a previous podcast appearance, Portable disclosed that he did not complete his education because of financial difficulties.

He explained that he resorted to selling sachet water to survive and said he did not have anyone willing to sponsor his education at the time.

According to the singer, his father sent his siblings to school, but he maintained that they had not secured government jobs despite their education. He added that he had become the family’s breadwinner.

Portable has also frequently spoken about his financial success, particularly his earnings from music and other business ventures.

In a previous interview, he claimed to own 20 cars, including a Range Rover and a G-Wagon, as well as 10 mansions. He further disclosed that he was building a hotel.

The singer insisted that although he might live in a disadvantaged neighbourhood, his lifestyle was not fake.

He has equally boasted about the performance of his songs on streaming platforms, taking aim at an unidentified individual while arguing that successful musicians do not need to beg people to download their music.

How Portable Rose To Fame

Portable gained widespread recognition in December 2021 following the release of his hit song, Zazu Zeh, which featured rapper and singer Olamide alongside dancer Iwe Pascal, popularly known as Poco Lee.

The song brought the singer into the spotlight and helped establish his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most outspoken street-pop artistes.

Since then, Portable has remained a regular subject of public discussion, with his music, personal life, business claims and controversial statements frequently attracting attention.

His latest praise for First Bank marks another chapter in his eventful public journey, following his previous dispute with the same institution.
