Nigerian film Phoenix Fury is set to make its nationwide cinema debut in Nigeria and Ghana on October 30, 2026, bringing a story of loss, trauma and revenge to audiences across both countries.
The film will be distributed by Nile Entertainment and is written, directed and produced by Ifeoma Nkiruka Chukwuogo under her production company, Fizzy K Pictures.
Built around the theme of revenge and the lasting impact of past experiences, Phoenix Fury carries the tagline, “Old sins cast long shadows.”
The film’s story moves between the past and present, following two women whose lives become connected through experiences of loss and trauma. Their journeys eventually lead them towards a common objective — seeking revenge against the same person who has tormented them.
At the centre of their quest is Yali, a newly elected Lagos State governor whose past actions connect the two women and set the stage for the events that unfold across Nigeria and Ghana.
A Story Spanning Two Timelines
One of the defining features of Phoenix Fury is its multi-chapter structure, which allows the narrative to move between different periods.
By connecting the past with the present, the film examines how painful experiences can continue to affect people’s lives long after the original events have taken place.
The stories of the two women gradually become connected through their shared experiences, bringing their individual struggles together around a common target.
Their pursuit of payback forms the central conflict of the film, with the narrative unfolding across Nigeria and Ghana.
The revenge-driven storyline also creates room for suspense as the characters confront the consequences of their past and attempt to settle old scores.
Strong Ensemble Cast
Phoenix Fury features an experienced ensemble of Nigerian and Ghanaian actors.
Uzoamaka Aniunoh plays Ifeatu, while Ama K. Abebrese takes on the role of Ewura-Ama.
Veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo portrays Older Yali, while Joseph Momodu plays the younger version of the character.
The cast also includes Tina Mba, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Onyinye Odokoro as Nnena, Adjetey Anang and Alphonse Menyo.
The combination of performers from Nigeria and Ghana reflects the film’s cross-border setting and adds to its regional appeal.
With its story built around trauma, revenge and interconnected lives, the performances will be central to conveying the emotional weight of the characters’ experiences.
Chukwuogo Leads The Production
Ifeoma Nkiruka Chukwuogo takes on multiple responsibilities on the project as its writer, director and producer.
The film was produced through Fizzy K Pictures, giving Chukwuogo creative control across several stages of its development.
Her approach brings together the different elements of the production, from the screenplay and direction to the overall production process.
The film’s multi-chapter narrative also gives the filmmaker an opportunity to tell the story across different periods while connecting the characters’ experiences.
An Award-Winning Film
Although Phoenix Fury is only now set for its nationwide cinema release in Nigeria and Ghana, the film has already received recognition on the festival circuit.
It previously premiered at the 2024 Africa International Film Festival, commonly known as AFRIFF.
At the festival, the film won two awards — Best Feature Film and Best Director.
The recognition gives the upcoming cinema release an additional layer of anticipation, particularly for audiences who have not yet had the opportunity to see the film.
Its festival success also places the production among films that have already attracted attention within the African film industry.
October 30 Cinema Debut
With its October 30 release date approaching, Phoenix Fury is set to transition from its festival run to a wider theatrical audience.
The film will open in cinemas nationwide in Nigeria and Ghana, with Nile Entertainment handling its distribution.
Its story of two women united by trauma and a shared desire for revenge, combined with its movement between past and present, places it firmly within the suspense-driven drama space.
For cinema audiences, the film offers a narrative built around old wounds, interconnected lives and the consequences of actions that refuse to remain buried.
With a cast featuring Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ama K. Abebrese, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Tina Mba, Ijeoma Grace Agu and other Nigerian and Ghanaian actors, Phoenix Fury will arrive in cinemas on October 30, 2026.
