Nollywood veteran actor Jide Kosoko has defended President Bola Tinubu’s administration, urging Nigerians to reconsider their criticism of the government and acknowledge efforts being made to address the country’s challenges.

In an interview with actress Biola Adebayo, Jide Kosoko acknowledged the economic difficulties facing Nigerians but maintained that the situation was not as bad as some people portrayed it.

He argued that although the country continued to face several problems, Tinubu was working to address them. He also suggested that some of the President’s critics were allowing their political ambitions to influence their judgment of his administration.

Jide Kosoko called on beneficiaries of government programmes, particularly those introduced to support students, to speak publicly about their experiences and explain how the initiatives had affected their lives.

He also expressed concern about the influence of foreign cultures on Nigerian youths, encouraging them to remain connected to their African identity and cultural values.

Jide Kosoko has consistently supported Tinubu, dating back to the period before the 2023 presidential election.

In June 2022, he joined several Yoruba movie stars, including Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, Yinka Quadri, Femi Adebayo and Faithia Williams, in endorsing Tinubu’s presidential ambition under the All Progressives Congress.

The actor previously explained that his support for Tinubu was influenced by his relationship with the President and his wife, Remi Tinubu, as well as what he described as Tinubu’s contributions to the entertainment industry during his time as Lagos State governor.
