Nigerian cyclist Bello Muhammad has earned international recognition after setting a Guinness World Record with a bicycle measuring 9 feet 5 inches, which he designed, constructed and rode without assistance.
The achievement, recorded on September 22, 2026, has attracted attention to the cyclist's ingenuity and determination, earning him recognition from the Kebbi State Government.
Muhammad, who is from Kebbi State, independently built the unusually tall bicycle before demonstrating his ability to mount it, ride it and dismount without anyone's help.
His accomplishment was celebrated at a ceremony held at the Kebbi State Government Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, where representatives of the state government formally received his Guinness World Records certificate.
The presentation was facilitated by Abubakar Kalgo, patron of the Kebbi State Equity Cyclist Association, who handed over the certificate to officials representing the state.
Malami Shekare, the Head of Service, received the certificate on behalf of the government and congratulated Muhammad for the achievement.
He described the cyclist's accomplishment as evidence of what young Nigerians can achieve when they identify their abilities and dedicate themselves to developing their talents.
In recognition of the record, Shekare announced a financial reward of ₦1 million for Muhammad. He also praised the creativity and determination involved in constructing and successfully riding a bicycle of such an unusual height.
The state's Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed-BK, also commended the cyclist, noting that his accomplishment had brought positive attention to Kebbi State.
Muhammad's record is another example of Nigerians gaining international recognition through unusual skills, creativity and personal determination.
His achievement has also placed a spotlight on the potential of young people in the state, particularly those pursuing interests outside conventional career paths.
The feat demonstrates the possibilities that can emerge when individuals are encouraged to experiment, develop practical abilities and pursue ambitious ideas.
The recognition from the Kebbi State Government has further highlighted the importance of supporting young people who demonstrate exceptional talent and innovation.
Muhammad's accomplishment has also renewed discussions about the need for greater investment in youth development, with calls for individuals with promising abilities to receive encouragement and opportunities to showcase their skills.
For the cyclist, the record represents the outcome of a project that required him to design and build a towering bicycle before proving that he could operate it independently.
His success has given Kebbi State another reason to celebrate, while adding his name to the growing number of Nigerians whose remarkable achievements have attracted attention beyond the country.
The ₦1 million reward from the state government serves as recognition of his effort and a gesture of encouragement for other young people who may be pursuing similarly unconventional ambitions.
