Nollywood actor Muyiwa Ademola has recounted a frightening experience he had while working on Warlord: Olori Ogun, a Yoruba epic produced by fellow actor Odunlade Adekola. Despite experiencing severe weakness and dizziness on set, the actor continued with the production against his doctors’ advice.
Muyiwa Ademola shared the story on Instagram on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, while expressing gratitude to Odunlade Adekola for his understanding, patience and support throughout the project.
According to Muyiwa Ademola, Odunlade Adekola first approached him about the film in December 2024, with production expected to commence in February 2025. However, Muyiwa Ademola had plans to travel to Canada in January and assured his colleague that he would return in time to participate in the project.
His trip raised concerns about whether he would make it back before filming began. Nevertheless, Odunlade Adekola maintained his confidence in Muyiwa Ademola and waited for him to join the production.
Muyiwa Ademola eventually arrived on set several weeks after filming had started. Unfortunately, what should have been his introduction to the production turned into a worrying medical incident.
The actor explained that he began experiencing dizziness, unusual weakness and excessive sweating while preparing to shoot his first scene. His hands were shaking, and he eventually became so weak that he could no longer stand properly.
Odunlade Adekola reportedly noticed his condition immediately and worked with members of the production crew to help him. They arranged a mat for him and suggested taking him to the hospital. However, Muyiwa Ademola declined the offer.
The actor acknowledged that his health had deteriorated to the point where working was no longer advisable. His doctors also warned him that he was not fit to continue filming, but he chose to ignore their recommendation.
Muyiwa Ademola explained that he was determined not to disappoint Odunlade Adekola, who had trusted him with an important role in the film. He subsequently admitted to relying on self-medication while pushing himself to complete his scenes.
Reflecting on the experience, Muyiwa Ademola expressed appreciation for Odunlade Adekola’s support, noting the trust his colleague had placed in him throughout the production.
Reacting to the revelation, Odunlade Adekola said he was surprised to learn the extent of what Muyiwa Ademola had experienced during filming. He praised his colleague’s acting abilities and thanked him for contributing to the project.
Warlord: Olori Ogun features several prominent Nollywood stars, including Femi Adebayo, Toyin Abraham, Faithia Balogun, Ibrahim Chatta, Ireti Osayemi and Eniola Ajao.
The Yoruba-language epic premiered in Nigerian cinemas in November 2025 before becoming available for streaming on Kava TV.
