Nollywood filmmaker Mike Bamiloye’s faith-based movie, Agbara Nla: The Return, has earned more than N307.2 million at the Nigerian box office, securing its position as the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2026.
The film’s distributor, Nile Entertainment, announced the achievement on social media, celebrating the strong reception the production has received since its arrival in cinemas.
According to the distributor, the movie has also recorded the highest box office earnings for a Nollywood title released in October.
Agbara Nla: The Return began its cinema run on October 1, 2026, following impressive preview screenings that generated approximately N71.4 million by the end of September 30.
The production subsequently earned about N99.2 million during its opening weekend, taking its initial earnings to approximately N170.6 million.
Its latest figures represent a significant milestone for the religious drama, which revisits one of the most recognised productions associated with Mount Zion Film Productions.
The new movie is a remake of the original Agbara Nla, written and directed by Mike Bamiloye and released in 1993. An English-language adaptation, titled The Ultimate Power, followed in 1994, introducing the story to a wider audience.
The original narrative centres on Muwonleru, a community dominated by a powerful herbalist, Isawuru, whose spiritual influence keeps residents under his control.
The arrival of Christian missionaries introduces a confrontation between Christianity and the forces that have long oppressed the villagers.
Bamiloye returns to the new production as Isawuru, while his sons, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye, popularly known as Jay Mikee, direct the remake.
Chris Odeh serves as producer, with Mount Zion Film Productions, Circuits and Sozo Films involved in the project. Nile Entertainment is responsible for distributing the film.
The cast also features Philip Olubakin as Olaboye, Aanu Kolade Abiodun as Bose and Damilola Mike-Bamiloye as Kola. Gloria Bamiloye, Remilekun Mosiko and David Okeowo are among the other actors.
Damilola previously revealed that the idea of revisiting the classic emerged approximately four years before production began.
However, his initial proposal to his father did not receive immediate approval, as Bamiloye believed the timing was not right.
The project eventually secured his blessing, with filming completed in approximately 20 to 21 days.
With its growing box office earnings, Agbara Nla: The Return continues to attract cinema audiences nationwide and has established itself among the year's leading Nigerian releases. The film is currently showing in cinemas across the country.
