Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has reignited her public feud with colleague Eniola Badmus, accusing her of repeatedly damaging her reputation and attempting to bring her down.
Bakare expressed her displeasure in a social media post accompanying a video from Badmus’ latest interview with Isbae U. She criticised the actress for what she described as repeated public attacks on her character, insisting that she had warned her several times to stop.
The actress also accused Badmus of being ungrateful, claiming that she had played a significant role in helping her career and personal growth. Bakare maintained that she would not allow another person’s insecurity to distract her from her journey.
‘You Are Indeed An Ingrate’
Sharing her reaction to the interview, Bakare questioned why Badmus continued to speak about her publicly in a manner she considered damaging to her reputation.
She alleged that she had repeatedly cautioned her colleague but that the warnings had been ignored.
Bakare wrote: “Nuisance ni lady yi sha! Must you always damage my character publicly? I have warned you several times to stop, but you have decided to bring me down at all costs. You will surely hear from me.
“See your facial expressions at the mention of your biggest benefactor’s name?
“The lady who helped you grow. Honestly, you are indeed an ingrate, and I won’t let this slide.
“I will never let someone else’s insecurity distract me.
“I know my journey, I know my worth, and I know how much it has taken me to get here”.
The actress’ post centred on her belief that she had supported Badmus in the past and should not be subjected to what she views as public attacks from her colleague.
However, her allegations form part of the ongoing disagreement between the actresses, with their relationship having been marked by several public exchanges.
Recalling Their Past Disagreements
The latest outburst comes after Bakare previously recounted an incident in which she claimed Badmus embarrassed her at an event.
Last year, the actress said she had invested in Badmus for 20 years because of her commitment to the company, but alleged that the relationship had ended in disappointment.
Bakare’s latest comments have therefore brought renewed attention to their history, particularly her claim that she helped Badmus advance in the entertainment industry.
The dispute between the actresses also became public in 2023 following a disagreement over Bakare’s outfit at the launch of her book.
Badmus reportedly compared the outfit to that of Pastor Adejara, a remark that did not sit well with Bakare.
In response, Bakare accused Badmus and some of their colleagues of failing to celebrate her achievements while being quick to point out her mistakes.
Eniola Badmus Fires Back
Badmus also responded to the disagreement, recalling an occasion when she alleged that Bakare had mocked her for not having a child and a family.
She further accused her colleague of criticising her support for President Bola Tinubu during the election.
In her response, Badmus made it clear that she was not someone to be taken lightly, declaring that she loved violence.
Their exchanges deepened the disagreement, turning what began as a dispute between colleagues into a prolonged public feud.
Tension At Movie Premiere
The actresses’ strained relationship was also brought into focus at the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s film, Owambe Thieves.
The pair were captured in a video appearing to have an intense exchange that nearly escalated into a physical confrontation.
In the clip, Badmus was seen arriving at the event as Bakare approached her and hurled words at her. Badmus, however, appeared to ignore her colleague.
The incident added another chapter to their ongoing disagreement, drawing attention to the tension between the two actresses.
Dispute Over Private Messages
Bakare also shared a screenshot of a direct message allegedly sent to her by Badmus, in which the latter reportedly criticised her for posting a photograph of them together and referred to her as an animal.
Reacting to the alleged message, Bakare reiterated her claim that she had given Badmus her first major acting role when others were unwilling to associate with her because of her appearance and obesity.
She expressed disappointment that Badmus would allegedly use such language against her despite the support she claimed to have provided.
The latest exchange has once again placed the actresses’ longstanding disagreement in the public eye, with Bakare insisting that she would not allow the situation to undermine her confidence or distract her from her progress.
