Flutterwave founder and CEO Olugbenga Agboola has received another international recognition after being listed among Fintech Magazine’s Top 100 Fintech Leaders for 2026. He is the only Nigerian included in this year’s selection, according to the report.

Agboola appears alongside prominent figures from the global financial technology sector, including Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire, Block CEO Jack Dorsey, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Stripe co-founder Patrick Collison.

Fintech Magazine said its assessment considered areas such as the size and reach of organisations, market impact, governance, professional recognition and influence within the industry.

The recognition comes as Flutterwave continues to broaden its operations beyond its traditional payment-processing services. In 2026, the company obtained a Nigerian Microfinance Bank licence, giving it the ability to hold funds and deposits directly while creating room for additional business accounts, payments, payouts and treasury services.

The fintech has also moved further into open banking following its acquisition of Mono, an African open banking platform. The deal is expected to strengthen its capabilities around financial data and open banking infrastructure.

Flutterwave is additionally working on stablecoin and multi-currency solutions designed to support cross-border transactions.

Earlier in 2026, the company reported processing more than $50 billion in total transaction value through over one billion transactions.

Its valuation subsequently climbed above $3.2 billion following strategic investments from Ripple and Circle.

Beyond his work at Flutterwave, Agboola supports African entrepreneurs through Resilience17, a venture studio and early-stage investment platform backing founders across the continent.
