Nigerian nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest has called on President Bola Tinubu to reconsider the ministers representing the Southeast in his administration, arguing that the region has not seen enough benefits from some of the appointments.

He expressed disappointment with the performance of certain ministers, questioning what they had achieved for their home states and the wider Southeast despite occupying important positions in the federal government.

According to him, the region's representation in key ministries should have translated into visible development, opportunities and stronger connections between the government and the people. However, he believes that some of those appointed have failed to make a meaningful difference.

Cubana Chief Priest was particularly critical of the former Minister of Works, describing him as the second-worst minister the Southeast had produced. He also criticised a female minister from Imo State, whom he considered even less effective.

He argued that holding a ministerial position should mean more than having a title, insisting that those entrusted with such responsibilities should be able to point to tangible achievements in their communities and states.

In his criticism, he questioned whether the region had benefited from having people in charge of major portfolios, including finance, trade and investment, and works. He suggested that many residents had little awareness of what these appointments had delivered for them.

Making his position clear, Cubana Chief Priest said:

"See wetin dem Dey do our minister, always blabbing. The second to worst minister southeast ever had. We have nothing to show for it as a region that had minister of works. the worst minister na my sister from imo state that one na fluke of a minister. Asiwaju you gats change these failures of ministers for us, the one from my state can’t even get 1k votes for Asiwaju. Nobody for our state even know say we once had minister of finance, minister of trade & investment but igbos no even see any opportunity, Minister Wey Dey beg to call meeting for am that one fit get vote. No Impact no level na boys just use mama cash out....."

His appeal to Tinubu also touched on the political consequences of ministerial appointments. He questioned how some of the ministers could command public support in their home states when, in his view, their time in office had not produced enough visible results to convince residents of their value.

The entrepreneur further suggested that appointments should be judged by performance rather than political connections or the prestige attached to holding a federal position. For him, ministers should be able to demonstrate how their offices have benefited the people they represent.

His comments place the spotlight on the expectations that come with political appointments, particularly in regions where residents want to see tangible returns from their representatives in government.

While his assessment reflects his personal criticism of the ministers concerned, his central demand is for Tinubu to review their performance and consider replacing those he believes have failed to deliver for the Southeast.
