Pastor Tobi Adegboyega has explained the thinking behind his church’s decision to introduce female members to luxury hotels, expensive cars and high-end environments.
According to him, the goal was not simply to give members a taste of an expensive lifestyle. He said it was also about changing the way young women viewed wealth, influence and the people who appeared to have access to things they could not easily afford.
Adegboyega said he wanted female members to experience these things for themselves rather than growing up believing that access to luxury automatically depended on having a wealthy or influential man in their lives.
He explained that when someone has already experienced certain things, they are less likely to be impressed or pressured by another person offering those same experiences as a way of gaining their attention or loyalty.
«“What I did with SPAC Nation members is that we exposed them to nice places, nice cars and hotels. So a girl child will not be carried away with all of these things. You will not idolise a rapper or a footballer and lose your principles because your leader already took you there.»
He went further, saying members were introduced to spaces that many people would normally consider exclusive.
«“SPAC Nation goes to where 0.001% have access. I’ll make a female member talk to the chairman of Rosewood Hotel, so that if you do something, it’s because you want to do it, not that a guy made you feel like you will never experience this without him.»
For Adegboyega, the idea was tied closely to confidence. He said young women should be able to enter expensive or exclusive spaces without feeling overwhelmed by the people they meet there.
Rather than allowing luxury to become something that could be used to control or impress them, he wanted members to become familiar with it.
He also said the approach extended beyond simply taking members to expensive locations. Even church activities, lunches and feeding programmes were deliberately organised in such environments.

His explanation centres on the belief that familiarity can change how people respond to wealth and status. By giving female members direct exposure to environments that might ordinarily seem distant from their everyday lives, he said they could develop a stronger sense of self and become less dependent on others for access.
The emphasis, in his words, was ultimately on making sure that luxury did not become a reason for a young woman to compromise her principles or attach herself to someone simply because that person could provide a lifestyle she had never experienced.
For Adegboyega, exposing female members to these experiences was therefore part of building confidence and independence, rather than simply showing off wealth.
