Nollywood has added another emotional romance drama to its growing collection of stories centred on love, heartbreak and second chances with the release of Shades of Love.

The 2026 movie, which premiered on Friday, September 11, stars Sandra Okunzuwa, Daniel Etim-Effiong and Eso Dike in leading roles. The film is now available to stream online through YouTube channels including Golden Tide TV and NollyLove Studios.

Shades of Love follows Benita, a successful investment banker whose confidence and seemingly settled life are shaken after she falls for a charming man named Tochukwu.

Despite her success and accomplishments, Benita becomes willing to risk everything for the relationship. What initially appears to be a promising romance, however, takes an unexpected turn when she is confronted with a devastating betrayal.

The experience leaves Benita to deal with the emotional consequences of putting her trust in someone who ultimately disappoints her.

A Love Story Shaped By Betrayal

At the centre of Shades of Love is Benita’s journey through heartbreak. Her relationship with Tochukwu forces her to confront the painful reality that love does not always come with the security, honesty or commitment people expect.

Sandra Okunzuwa takes on the role of Benita, portraying a woman whose personal and emotional worlds are thrown into uncertainty after her relationship takes a painful turn.

Rather than allowing the betrayal to completely define her future, Benita begins the difficult process of rebuilding her life.

Her journey forms an important part of the film’s exploration of healing and self-discovery. The story examines how a person can recover after being hurt by someone they trusted and how painful experiences can influence the way they approach future relationships.

A Second Chance At Love

As Benita attempts to move forward, her life takes another turn when she meets Dayo, a widower who challenges her understanding of romance.

Dayo’s arrival introduces another dimension to the story, as Benita is forced to reconsider what she wants from love and whether she is ready to open herself up again after experiencing betrayal.

The relationship presents the possibility of a fresh beginning, but it also raises questions about whether someone who has been deeply hurt can truly leave the past behind.

Through Benita and Dayo’s encounter, Shades of Love explores the idea that finding love for a second time can come with its own uncertainties. Moving forward may require more than simply meeting someone new; it can also involve confronting old wounds, forgiving and learning to trust again.

Daniel Etim-Effiong and Eso Dike join Sandra Okunzuwa in the principal cast, bringing together three actors whose characters contribute to the film’s exploration of complicated relationships and emotional choices.

Exploring Love, Healing And Forgiveness

Beyond its romantic storyline, Shades of Love focuses on themes that can resonate with audiences who have experienced disappointment in relationships.

Heartbreak, forgiveness, healing and self-discovery are central to the narrative. The film considers the emotional impact of betrayal while also examining the possibility of rebuilding after a painful experience.

Benita’s journey highlights the difficulty of finding a balance between protecting oneself and remaining open to genuine affection. Her encounter with Dayo gives the story an opportunity to explore whether past experiences should determine a person’s ability to embrace another chance at happiness.

The movie also presents love as something more complicated than attraction. Trust, emotional readiness and the willingness to forgive become important elements as Benita navigates the next chapter of her life.

With its focus on romance and emotional recovery, Shades of Love joins a growing number of Nollywood productions using relationship stories to explore personal transformation.

The movie was released on September 11, 2026, and audiences can watch it online through YouTube platforms including Golden Tide TV and NollyLove Studios.

Featuring Sandra Okunzuwa as Benita alongside Daniel Etim-Effiong and Eso Dike, Shades of Love offers a story about the pain of betrayal, the courage required to heal and the possibility that love can sometimes return in an unexpected form.
