Ramsey Nouah Explains Why He Stays Away From The Spotlight

For Ramsey Nouah, being a public figure does not necessarily mean putting every part of his life on display.

The veteran Nollywood actor has made it clear that he prefers to keep things simple when it comes to his personal life. While his face and name have been familiar to Nigerian movie audiences for years, Nouah does not appear interested in making his private affairs part of the package.

During an interview with E!plash, the actor was asked if his decision to maintain a low profile was intentional. His response suggested that staying away from unnecessary attention gives him the space to concentrate on what he actually enjoys doing.

“It is, kind of. I'm able to work better with just being in the low, in the background than upfront. I feel safer in that lane. If I have a work or a job, I'll promote the job. It is not about promoting myself, it is about the work. That's why I am here to talk about the character I play, Tornado.”

That approach says quite a bit about how Nouah sees his career. For him, the film should come first, followed by the character and the work that went into bringing that character to life. His personal life, on the other hand, does not have to become part of the conversation every time he has a new project.

Nouah has been part of Nollywood for more than two decades, building a career that has seen him take on different roles and become one of the familiar faces in Nigerian cinema. Over the years, audiences have watched him portray different characters, and he appears comfortable allowing those performances to carry much of the story about who he is professionally.

He does not seem to feel that being private means being distant from his audience. Instead, it is simply the way he has chosen to draw a line between his career and his life away from the cameras.

For the actor, there is also a clear difference between promoting a project and promoting himself. When he has a movie or a role to talk about, he is willing to step forward and discuss the work. But once the conversation moves into areas that have little to do with what he does on screen, he would rather remain in the background.

That position is also reflected in the way he describes himself. Nouah is not saying that people should know nothing about him. After years in the industry, his work has already introduced him to audiences in its own way.

They have seen the characters, followed the performances and watched his career develop over the years. In his view, that may be enough.

His latest comments also put the focus back on his role as Tornado, the character he was discussing during the interview. Rather than using the opportunity to talk extensively about his life outside acting, Nouah chose to bring the conversation back to the job at hand.

It is a straightforward approach: when there is work to promote, he will promote the work. When the cameras are off, he would rather have some privacy.
