Nigerian dancer and entertainer Poco Lee has spoken about his recent experience in the United Kingdom, insisting that he remained mentally strong throughout the ordeal because he was convinced he had not committed the offence he was accused of.
The dancer made the comments during a video call with social commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan. The conversation was shared on social media on Sunday as Poco Lee addressed some of the concerns surrounding his situation.
Reflecting on the period he spent away, Poco Lee said his main concern was not himself but the people around him and the possible effect his absence could have on their businesses and daily activities.
He specifically mentioned Rahman Jago, explaining that he was worried about the impact his situation could have on the business activities of his associates.
“I was just being myself, God sees my heart, my only worries were about my people: Jago could not do anything business wise, I didn’t want to stress anyone,” he said.
Poco Lee also explained that his state of mind would have been different if he believed he had actually committed the offence for which he was accused.
According to the dancer, knowing that he did not commit the alleged offence gave him peace of mind throughout the difficult period.
“If I was inside there and I did what I was accused of, I would have felt I was paying for my sins, but since I knew I didn’t do what I was accused of, my mind is pure,” he said.
The entertainer acknowledged that being associated with such allegations could have affected the way people viewed him and his career.
He also expressed appreciation to those who continued to stand by him during the period, specifically mentioning Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy, Rahman Jago and some of his other associates.
“Nobody would have wanted to associate themselves with something like that, but Burna Boy stood by me, Jago and some of my other guys,” Poco Lee said.
VeryDarkMan Questions Reports
VeryDarkMan, who shared the video call with his followers, also raised questions about the reports surrounding Poco Lee’s situation.
In his social media caption accompanying the video, the social commentator questioned why Poco Lee had been the subject of public discussion and why there appeared to be different narratives about his situation.
He also praised Burna Boy and Rahman Jago for standing by the dancer while urging Poco Lee to remain cautious.
VeryDarkMan wrote that he had spoken with Poco Lee and Jago and suggested that the entertainer needed to be careful because of the challenges that could come with being in the public eye.
He also questioned reports that Poco Lee was out on bail and asked why the dancer had been targeted.
Sexual Offence Allegations
Reports that emerged in August claimed that Poco Lee was being held on remand in a United Kingdom prison following allegations of sexual offences.
The reports generated discussions across social media, particularly because of the dancer’s popularity and his links with several prominent Nigerian entertainers.
A plea hearing was also reportedly scheduled for September.
However, Poco Lee’s latest comments represent his own account of the situation, with the dancer maintaining that he did not commit the offence he was accused of.
His remarks do not in themselves determine the outcome of any legal proceedings, and allegations against him should not be treated as established facts unless proven through the appropriate legal process.
For now, Poco Lee appears focused on moving forward while acknowledging the support he received from people close to him.
His comments have also brought renewed attention to the importance of allowing legal proceedings to take their course rather than relying solely on reports and social media narratives.
