Mr Eazi Reveals His Biggest Regret About His Late Mother

Mr Eazi’s journey in music took him to different parts of the world, but there is one person he wishes had been there to see it all happen — his late mother.

The singer recalled how his mother never got to watch him perform on stage before her death. For him, that remains one of the things he regrets most about his life and career.

“My only regret in life is that my mom never got to watch me perform on stage before she passed away. She was very conservative in her life in general. She didn’t like travelling, not even from Lagos to Accra.

“And the more my career progressed, the more I was travelling across the world to do shows. But she always supported me with prayers,” he said.

His mother’s reluctance to travel meant that she stayed away from many of the places his growing music career eventually took him. While international performances became a regular part of his life, getting his mother to attend one of his shows was never something that happened.

Mr Eazi’s career gradually moved beyond Nigeria, with performances taking him to different countries and cities around the world. The more successful he became, the more time he spent travelling for concerts and other music-related engagements.

His mother, however, remained supportive from home.

Although she did not travel with him or attend his performances, her prayers remained an important form of support for the singer. That support stayed with him as his career continued to grow and took him further away from home.

Looking back, the absence of his mother from those moments is what makes the experience bittersweet for him. He was able to build the kind of international career that required constant travelling, but she was not around to witness him perform in person.

The singer’s comments also highlight the contrast between his life as a travelling musician and the quieter, more conservative lifestyle his mother preferred. While he was constantly moving from one country to another for shows, she was comfortable staying within familiar surroundings.

Even a trip between Lagos and Accra was not something she wanted to make.

Still, her distance from the stage did not mean she was disconnected from her son’s career. Mr Eazi made it clear that her prayers were always there as his career progressed.

“My only regret in life is that my mom never got to watch me perform on stage before she passed away,” he said.

Mr Eazi made the disclosure during an episode of the Brut Podcast, where he reflected on his career, his travels and the support he received from his mother before her death.
