Several prominent figures from Nigeria’s entertainment industry have been appointed to the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress campaign council ahead of the 2027 governorship and House of Assembly elections.
Among those named are veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Nollywood actresses Toyin Abraham, Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola, as well as Fuji musicians Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba.
They will serve under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the campaign council, according to the list released by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
Toke Benson Awoyinka has been appointed Director of the directorate, while Kosoko will serve as Co-Director. Eniola Badmus is listed as Deputy Director, with Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, serving as Secretary. Dare Olateju was named Assistant Secretary.
The directorate also includes several established personalities from the Yoruba film industry. They include Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri and Tayo Sobola.
Fuji music also has a strong presence in the structure, with Malaika, Osupa and Small Doctor among those appointed alongside Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba.
The appointments come as the Lagos APC intensifies preparations for the next round of elections. The party began its campaign activities on September 9, following the commencement date for electioneering set by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The campaign council is scheduled to be officially inaugurated on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road in Ikeja.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will head the council as Chairman, while his deputy, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, will serve as Deputy Chairman. Former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has been appointed Director General, with Rasaq Ajala as Deputy Director General and Adekunle Olayinka as Campaign Secretary.
The Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate is one of several units created as part of the party’s campaign structure. Its composition brings together actors, musicians and other personalities with significant connections to Lagos’ creative sector.
The development follows the Lagos APC’s earlier decision to back Hamzat as its consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election. His candidacy received the backing of the party’s Governance Advisory Council in April 2026.
With the campaign council now set for inauguration, the inclusion of well-known entertainment figures signals the party’s effort to involve members of the creative industry in its preparations for the forthcoming elections.
