Nollywood actor Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele, is celebrating a major milestone in his acting career after becoming part of a Guinness World Records achievement through the movie Black Market.
The actor took to social media to reflect on his journey from a humble background to gaining international recognition through his work in the Nigerian film industry.
For Itele, the achievement represents more than the success of a single production, as he sees it as evidence of how far persistence and determination can take a person.
Black Market made history after more than 51,000 people gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos for a special screening of the movie.
Guinness World Records confirmed the attendance as the largest audience ever recorded for a film screening, surpassing the previous record of 43,624 people set by Felix Manalo in the Philippines in 2015.
The film, produced by Rixel Studios, features a number of Nollywood stars, including Omowunmi Dada, Lateef Adedimeji, Uzor Arukwe, Linda Ejiofor Suleiman, Scarlet Gomez, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok and Itele.
Reacting to the achievement, Itele looked back at his early days around Agbado Crossing and Agege. He said remembering one's beginnings can help put current achievements into perspective.
The actor described being part of Black Market as a significant moment in his career and encouraged his followers to remain committed to their goals regardless of their circumstances.
He stressed the importance of hard work, humility and persistence while urging people not to abandon their dreams.
Itele has experienced several notable achievements in recent times. Weeks before the Guinness World Records milestone, the actor celebrated receiving YouTube's Gold Creator Award after his channel reached one million subscribers.
His movie Koleoso has also become a major success on YouTube. Earlier in the year, the production crossed 100 million views, making it the first Nollywood title and African movie title reported in the article to reach that milestone on the platform.
Reflecting on his career, Itele has frequently spoken about moving from being overlooked to receiving greater recognition for his work. His growing online audience and the success of his productions have helped strengthen his position in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The actor also recently featured among Nigeria's top 10 YouTube creators, another achievement he attributed to the support of his audience and the people who have believed in his projects.
With the success of Black Market now adding another major milestone to his record, Itele continues to celebrate a career defined by persistence, growth and increasing recognition.
