Carter Efe Says Davido Warned Him To Stop Insulting Wizkid

Davido has reportedly reached out to Carter Efe over the streamer’s repeated comments about Wizkid, with Carter Efe saying the singer told him to stop insulting the Afrobeats star.

Carter Efe made the disclosure while addressing the idea that Davido may have been encouraging him to go after Wizkid. According to him, the message from Davido was actually the opposite, as the singer asked him to put an end to the insults.

“Davido texted me and told me never to insult Wizkid again. People think he’s the one sending me to insult Wizkid,” Carter Efe said.

The clarification comes after Carter Efe spent considerable time making comments about Wizkid and their past connection through ‘Machala’, the song he recorded with Berri Tiga in 2022.

The track was created as a tribute to Wizkid, whose nickname is Machala, but its success eventually became a major point of disagreement for Carter Efe. The song performed strongly on Nigerian music charts, including reaching the number one position on Apple Music Nigeria shortly after its release.

Carter Efe has repeatedly argued that he deserves recognition for what he believes the song did for Wizkid and has questioned why the singer did not publicly acknowledge his contribution.

For Carter Efe, the issue is not simply about the song itself. He has maintained that he and Wizkid were both connected to the success that came from ‘Machala’, and he has taken issue with what he sees as a lack of recognition from the singer.

That frustration has also shaped some of Carter Efe’s more recent comments about Wizkid. Rather than keeping the disagreement centred on music, he has challenged Wizkid to face him in a boxing match.

Carter Efe has also spoken about money connected to the situation, insisting that he would not necessarily need to receive payment if Wizkid were involved in the proposed boxing event. His main complaint, as he has presented it, is the lack of acknowledgement he feels he received after ‘Machala’ became successful.

The back-and-forth has kept Carter Efe’s relationship with Wizkid in the spotlight, while his latest comments about Davido add another side to the story.

Rather than claiming Davido was encouraging his comments, Carter Efe now says Davido directly told him to stop insulting Wizkid. His account also makes it clear that whatever disagreement he has with Wizkid is something he considers separate from Davido.
