Nollywood actress and former Big Brother Africa housemate Beverly Osu has faced criticism from some social media users after sharing photos from her birthday celebration.
The actress, who is celebrating her birthday today, posted a series of photographs on her social media page in which she wore an open blazer while holding a rosary.
While the actress used the post to express gratitude to God and reflect on her journey, some people took issue with the combination of her outfit and the religious item.

In her birthday message, Osu thanked God for bringing her through another year and spoke about the lessons she had learnt along the way.
She said she had come to understand that some of life’s biggest miracles do not necessarily happen dramatically, but can be found in quiet strength, prayers and the grace to continue moving forward.
The actress also reflected on the work and experiences that had shaped her over the past year.
She noted that she had beautiful moments and was grateful for some numbers achieved at the box office, but said her greatest appreciation was for the woman she was becoming.
“I’ve learned that sometimes the greatest miracles don’t arrive with thunder. Sometimes they look like quiet strength, soft prayers, and the grace to keep walking,” she wrote.
Osu added that she carries her faith with her as a reminder that she is not walking through life alone.
She prayed for God to guide her heart, keep her grounded and give her the strength to become everything she is meant to be.
The actress also asked those celebrating her to pray that she would not lose her faith, gratitude or grace.
Rosary Sparks Reactions
Despite the spiritual message behind her birthday post, some social media users criticised Osu over her decision to pose with a rosary while wearing an outfit that exposed part of her cleavage.
One commenter, j_jada15, accused the actress of disrespecting the Catholic faith and the rosary.
Another user, shatellmusa, questioned why Osu could not have taken the photographs without the rosary, describing the combination as disrespectful to Christianity.
Other reactions were less critical, with some users simply wished her well and celebrated her birthday.
The reactions have consequently shifted some attention away from the actress’s birthday message and towards the way she incorporated the religious item into her photographs.
14 Years After Big Brother Africa
Earlier this year, Osu reflected on her journey in the entertainment industry as she marked 14 years since her appearance on Big Brother Africa.
She shared a video of her first interview after leaving the reality show and recalled the confidence she had in herself at the time.
According to the actress, she believed she would build a strong career in Africa, survive the challenges ahead and allow life to teach her important lessons.
She credited grace, growth, mistakes, prayers and persistence for helping her navigate the years since her reality television appearance.
Osu also expressed appreciation for her younger self, particularly for having the courage to keep going and refusing to give up.
From Reality TV To Nollywood
Osu gained prominence after competing on Big Brother Africa in 2011.
Although she did not win the reality show, her appearance helped introduce her to a wider audience and opened opportunities for her within the entertainment industry.
She subsequently built a career in acting and has featured in several productions, including Jennifer’s Diaries, Chief Daddy, Coke Alive and Stolen Lives.
Before establishing herself as an actress, Osu also worked as a video vixen and appeared in music videos for prominent Nigerian artistes, including Ice Prince Zamani.
Over the years, she has continued to pursue different aspects of entertainment while developing her identity beyond reality television.
In a previous interview, Osu also spoke about maintaining her independence and dealing with pressure from the public.
She said the people capable of pressuring her were members of her family, rather than fans.
