Veteran Nigerian Fuji singer Adewale Ayuba is set to begin a new chapter in his musical career with the release of a five-track album titled Arise on September 19, 2026.
The Bonsue Fuji crooner announced the upcoming project during an interview with journalists in Lagos on Tuesday, describing the album as an important milestone as he enters what he considers a fresh phase of his career.
According to Ayuba, his approach to music releases has evolved with the changing habits of modern listeners. The veteran musician explained that he no longer intends to focus on lengthy albums or extended songs, choosing instead to embrace shorter tracks and singles that can connect more easily with today’s audiences.
Ayuba Embraces A New Musical Direction
Ayuba explained that Arise represents more than just another music project. For him, the title reflects the beginning of another journey and signals a change in how he intends to create and release music.
“I’m no longer going to do long-form albums or 33-minute songs. I’m going with singles. That’s why I called it Arise — the beginning of another journey in my life,” he said.
The singer’s decision comes at a time when music consumption has increasingly shifted towards digital platforms, where listeners can discover individual songs quickly and artists regularly release singles to maintain engagement with their audiences.
Rather than producing lengthy bodies of work, Ayuba wants to adapt to this changing environment while continuing to preserve the substance of his music.
‘Koloba Koloba’, ‘Uncommon’ Inspired Project
Ayuba revealed that the positive response to his recent singles, Koloba Koloba and Uncommon, played an important role in the development of Arise.
He explained that the songs were initially released as a way of testing his audience’s reaction to his new musical direction. The response he received encouraged him to proceed with the five-track project.
“The two singles that I did, including Koloba Koloba, were just to sample and see whether people would appreciate them. Now, I see the kind of love they show to me through Koloba Koloba, and Uncommon. I have now done five songs together in one album,” he said.
The album will feature tracks including Ileke, All Over the World, Kututu and Yetunde, alongside another song.
The project is expected to give listeners an opportunity to experience the different sides of Ayuba’s artistry while introducing them to the direction he intends to take moving forward.
‘My Music Is About Messages’
Despite his decision to change his release strategy, Ayuba stressed that the substance of his music remains important to him.
The Fuji singer explained that his songs are created with messages in mind rather than being produced solely for entertainment. He maintained that his new approach to releasing music would not prevent him from delivering meaningful content to his audience.
Ayuba also used the opportunity to highlight his versatility as a musician, insisting that he remains capable of experimenting with different sounds and styles.
“I just want people to know that I’m versatile; I can do anything with music,” he said.
His comments underline his intention to combine his experience as a veteran Fuji musician with a willingness to explore new approaches within the contemporary music landscape.
‘Arise’ Marks Fresh Chapter
The upcoming album represents another stage in Ayuba’s long career, with the singer encouraging his fans and music lovers to listen to the project and form their own opinions.
He urged listeners to give Arise a chance when it arrives on September 19, saying the project marks the beginning of a fresh chapter in his musical journey.
The album will be made available to listeners globally, allowing fans in Nigeria and other parts of the world to access the five-track project.
With Arise, Ayuba is embracing a different approach to releasing music while maintaining his focus on versatility and meaningful messages.
The project is scheduled to arrive on September 19, 2026, giving fans of the Fuji veteran a chance to experience his latest musical direction and witness what he describes as the beginning of another journey.
