Nigerian music star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, is set to headline the opening night of the 2026 edition of Detty December Fest in Lagos.
The organisers, Livespot360, announced the development on Thursday, confirming that the festival will take place from December 18 to 30 as part of the city’s highly anticipated end-of-year entertainment season.
Wizkid’s involvement is expected to add significant star power to the 13-day festival, which is designed to bring together music, culture and creative experiences during the festive period.
Wizkid To Open The Festival
The opening-night concert is scheduled for Friday, December 18, at the Detty December Village in Lagos.
The event will begin at 6pm, with Wizkid billed as the headline performer for the first night of the festival.
Announcing the singer’s participation, the organisers described his performance as the official launch of the Detty December season.
“The countdown to December begins. Wizkid headlines the opening night of Detty December Fest 2026,” Livespot360 announced.
The organisers also urged music lovers to attend the opening concert rather than relying on social media updates or videos from the event.
“This is one night the whole internet would claim it attended. Don’t just hear about it, be a part of it!” they added.
13 Days Of Entertainment
Detty December Fest 2026 is scheduled to run for 13 days, offering visitors a combination of musical performances, cultural activities and creative experiences.
The festival is expected to operate across two stages, creating space for different performances and activities throughout its run.
With Lagos traditionally attracting Nigerians in the diaspora, tourists and entertainment lovers during December, the festival is positioned as one of the major events expected to contribute to the city’s festive atmosphere.
The organisers also intend to make the festival more than just a series of concerts by incorporating food, shopping and other lifestyle experiences.
Ticket Prices Revealed
Ticket information released for the festival shows that General Access tickets will cost N50,000, while Golden Circle tickets are priced at N150,000.
VIP Standing tickets will cost N300,000, while tables will be available through the event’s concierge service.
General Access ticket holders will be able to enter the festival grounds and enjoy the music performances, food courts and marketplace.
Golden Circle ticket holders will have access to the same general festival experiences, while also gaining entry to an area located closer to the stage.
The VIP Standing option is designed for guests who want a more exclusive experience close to the bars and performance area. However, the package does not include a designated seat.
A Major December Attraction
Wizkid’s headline performance is likely to make the opening night one of the most anticipated dates on the festival calendar.
The singer has remained one of Nigeria’s most recognised international music acts, with a career spanning more than a decade and a catalogue that has earned him audiences across Africa and beyond.
