Singer Rybeena says having a child in Nigeria is something he and his wife, Kidbaby, are not comfortable with.

The singer made the statement while speaking on the Wahala Podcast, where he explained that his decision is tied to both his personal experiences and his concerns about the situation in the country.

For Rybeena, bringing a child into the Nigerian environment comes with questions he and his wife have had to seriously consider. He said they have already reached an agreement that they do not want to have a child in Nigeria because of the kind of environment the child would grow up in.

He also questioned how much progress Nigeria has made compared with other countries, pointing to the state of the economy despite the presence of some of the continent’s wealthiest individuals.

“My wife, Kidbaby and I have vowed not to have a child in this country because the country is far behind.

Because of my experience and the way the country is, we are far behind among other countries even though we have most richest people in Africa.

Our economy and everything. So us having a child here is messed up for real. Everyone here has the same mentality kind of common and it really matters.

Kidbaby and I have agreed not to have a child in Nigeria because I think the water we bathe with creates a certain mentality I don’t want for our child. Even though the richest man in Africa is from here, the economy is still bad.

Having kids in Nigeria is what scares me the most.”

His comments show that his concerns are not limited to the cost of raising a child. He is also thinking about the influence of the surroundings, the people and the general conditions a child would have to grow up with.

Rybeena believes the environment can shape a person’s outlook from an early age, and he does not want his child to pick up certain attitudes or ways of thinking simply because of where they were raised.

He also brought up what he sees as a contradiction in Nigeria  the country has produced some of Africa’s richest people, yet many ordinary people continue to deal with economic difficulties.

That gap is part of what makes the idea of parenthood difficult for him.

For now, Rybeena and Kidbaby appear to have made their position clear. They would rather have their child grow up somewhere they believe offers a better environment and opportunities.

The singer’s main concern, as he explained it, is the future of the child rather than simply becoming parents. For him, deciding where that child would grow up is just as important as the decision to have one in the first place.
