Nollywood star and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has given fans a rare glimpse into her marriage, revealing that her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, once issued her an ultimatum over her smoking habit — warning that their relationship could not survive if she continued.

The actress made the revelation during a recent appearance on The Moraya Show, where she opened up candidly about a period in her life when she battled a dependence on cigarettes.

According to Abraham, the habit had become serious enough that her husband felt compelled to draw a hard line, telling her plainly that their marriage was at stake if she didn't find a way to quit.

Rather than brushing off the warning, Abraham said she took it seriously, choosing to prioritize her marriage over her attachment to cigarettes.

She explained that the fear of losing what she has built with Ajeyemi was enough motivation to push her toward quitting, even though breaking the habit wasn't necessarily easy.

Throughout the conversation, the actress spoke warmly about her husband's role in her life, crediting him as one of the most positive influences she's ever had  both personally and professionally.

She described him as someone who gives her the freedom to express herself fully, without trying to control or restrict who she is.

"My husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi is one of the best things that ever happened to me. He lets me shine and be me.

I used to be a cigarette addict but he warned me that if I don't stop smoking our marriage won't work. I had to stop it because I valued my marriage. Well, I have stopped cigarettes but I still do vapes," Abraham said, according to the interview.

Interestingly, while she has managed to eliminate cigarettes entirely from her routine, Abraham admitted she hasn't completely walked away from nicotine, disclosing that she still occasionally vapes.

It's unclear whether this distinction was something her husband specifically addressed, but Abraham's comments suggest a level of ongoing flexibility within their relationship when it comes to her personal habits.

She went on to describe Ajeyemi as far from controlling, noting that he generally allows her the space to pursue whatever brings her happiness  so long as it doesn't compromise her safety or wellbeing.

This, she implied, is part of what makes their marriage work, striking a balance between mutual respect and honest boundaries.

Abraham and Ajeyemi have built a public profile as one of Nollywood's more visible couples, with the actress frequently sharing insights into their relationship dynamics.

Her latest comments add another layer to how fans understand the pair's marriage, highlighting both the compromises and the trust that appear to underpin their bond, even as she continues to navigate personal habits like vaping in the background.
