“The Only Mrs Yul Edochie I Know Is May” — Rita Edochie Slams Judy Austin's Lawsuit

Actress Rita Edochie has responded to a defamation suit reportedly filed against her by Judy Austin, questioning the name used to identify the actress in the court document and asking her to provide evidence supporting the name.

The dispute follows a writ of summons in which Judy Austin is identified as “Mrs. Judy Austin Yul Edochie,” with Rita Edochie listed as the defendant.

In her response, Rita said she was confused after receiving a message addressed to her from a woman identified as Mrs Judith Yul Edochie, insisting that she does not recognise anyone by that name.

“I RECEIVED A MESSAGE FROM ONE MRS JUDITH YUL EDOCHIE AND UP TILL NOW I AM STILL WONDERING AND UTTERLY CONFUSED ABOUT WHO THE BEARER OF THAT NAME IS BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW ANYONE BY THAT NAME.”

Rita went on to say that, as far as she is concerned, the only person she recognises by the name Mrs Yul Edochie is May Edochie.

“AS A MATTER OF FACT, THE ONLY MRS YUL EDOCHIE THAT I KNOW IS QUEEN MAY YUL EDOCHIE. WANTING TO BE ADDRESSED BY THAT NAME IS VERY PROVOCATIVE RIGHT NOW WHICH I TAKE AS A TERRIBLE SLAP ON THE FACE OF THE EDOCHIES.”

She further challenged Judy Austin to produce her marriage certificate if she insists on being addressed as Mrs Judith Yul Edochie.

“ANYWAY, SINCE YOU ARE INSISTENT ON BEING ADDRESSED THAT WAY, I WOULD LIKE YOU TO PRESENT YOUR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE HIGHLIGHTING THE EXACT CONFORMATION OF THAT WEIRD NAME ‘MRS JUDITH YUL EDOCHIE’ ONLY THEN WILL I GIVE FURTHER RESPONSE TO THIS VERY MESSAGE.”
