Prophet Itunu Onadeko, fiancé of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, has given a different account of the circumstances surrounding her death, alleging that she died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Onadeko made the claim during an interview with the Celestial Reality Check, the media investigative unit of the Celestial Church of Christ, on Saturday.

His account comes amid speculation about the cause of Osoba’s death, with some reports linking it to complications from breast cancer, which the actress had previously battled and undergone surgery for.

Fiancé Claims He Received Midnight Call

According to Onadeko, he received a phone call around midnight from an unidentified person informing him that Osoba had died at a police station.

“It was a random person that called me around 12 am that she died in a police station in Ikorodu,” he said.

The prophet said he was unable to establish the specific police station where the actress allegedly died but reported himself at a nearby station after receiving the information.

He said Osoba had gone to visit a woman identified as Kehinde Osoba shortly before the incident, accompanied by a hairdresser with whom she had been staying.

Osoba Was In Contact Before Death

Onadeko said Osoba had insisted on seeing Kehinde and had also indicated that she wanted to see him.

However, he said he was unable to accompany her because of church programmes.

According to him, communication between them continued after she left, and Osoba even made a social media post before he later received news of her death.

“The hairdresser that Tope was sleeping in her place was the person that went with her. We maintained communication and she even posted ‘Ogo tun tun’ until I heard that she died in the police station,” he said.

He Rejects Cancer Link

Onadeko also disputed claims that Osoba’s previous battle with cancer was responsible for her death.

He recalled meeting the actress after she had decided to undergo surgery and claimed he supported her through that period.

“When I first met her, after I did a redemption prayer for her, she told me she wants to do a surgery on cancer. I prayed for her,” he said.

He also rejected allegations that he had access to money raised for Osoba’s treatment or diverted any of the funds towards the construction of his church.

According to him, donations were paid directly into Osoba’s account, while several individuals supported her treatment.

Denies Alleged Misuse Of Treatment Funds

Onadeko questioned reports that Osoba received as much as N30 million for her surgery and insisted that he never controlled the money.

“Who has an evidence that the money she got for her surgery is N30m? It wasn’t my account they sent the money to, it was hers,” he said.

He also denied using the actress’ treatment funds to build a church, explaining that the church had existed for many years before Osoba became a member.

“I met Tope like two years ago and the church has been there since 20 years ago,” he added.

Addresses Claims About Her Lifestyle

The prophet also denied reports that Osoba was prevented from using her car, saying she drove herself to Iperu shortly before her death.

He said the actress had expressed concerns about visiting her maternal family but that he encouraged her to maintain contact with them because they were planning to get married.

Onadeko acknowledged that Osoba had struggled with smoking and said he encouraged her to stop.

“She was dealing with smoking habit. And I wanted her to leave it. All the church members know about her smoking habit,” he said.

Denies Abuse Allegations

Onadeko further denied allegations that Osoba was subjected to degrading treatment or punished with faeces or urine over an alleged theft of biscuits.

He maintained that their relationship was not characterised by coercion, adding that they had shared financial responsibilities and supported each other.

He also said Osoba had given him N1 million after her surgery.

Actress Had Left Church

Onadeko revealed that Osoba had left the church about three weeks before her death.

He said he contacted one of her uncles, identified as Taiwo, after learning about her death, but claimed the relative was angry with him and refused to speak further.

Osoba died on Wednesday at the age of 40 and is expected to be buried on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.

However, the circumstances and cause of her death have not been independently established, and the claims made by Onadeko remain unverified.
