Olakunle Churchill has intensified his response to reports alleging that he was arrested in Switzerland, taking the matter beyond a public denial by releasing a legal statement through his lawyers.
The businessman, who recently dismissed the claims as baseless, is now seeking the withdrawal of the publication, describing the report as false, defamatory and capable of causing serious damage to his reputation.
The controversy began after an online publication alleged that Churchill had been arrested in Switzerland over an alleged tax-related issue. However, Churchill has continued to insist that there is no truth to the report, maintaining that he has never been involved in any criminal investigation or legal proceedings as suggested.
Addressing the allegation, Churchill stated that the claims are entirely fabricated and should not be taken seriously.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I have no police case, no court case, and no criminal matter whatsoever. Any claims suggesting otherwise are entirely false and should be treated as such.”
Determined to protect his name, Churchill's legal team has now stepped into the matter, demanding that the publication be withdrawn immediately. According to the legal statement, the report is defamatory and those responsible for publishing or circulating it risk facing legal consequences if corrective steps are not taken.
Churchill also addressed questions about his preference for keeping his private life away from public scrutiny. According to him, choosing to maintain privacy should never be interpreted as an attempt to conceal wrongdoing.
“Over the years, I have chosen to keep many aspects of my personal and business life private. That choice should never be mistaken for having something to hide. Privacy is a principle I value, and I intend to keep it that way.”
While expressing disappointment over the situation, Churchill said he finds it unfortunate that some people are willing to spread unverified information that could damage another person's reputation instead of promoting truth and encouragement.
Despite the allegations, he said he remains focused on his responsibilities and will not allow distractions to shift his attention from his businesses, philanthropic activities and long-term goals.
“It is unfortunate that, rather than celebrating progress and encouraging one another, some individuals choose to spread unverified stories to discredit others. While such actions are disappointing, they will not distract me from my purpose.”
Churchill added that those who truly know him understand the principles that guide his life and work. Rather than engaging in prolonged public exchanges over the allegations, he said he believes time has a way of exposing falsehoods while preserving the truth.
He concluded his statement with a message of confidence and faith, expressing his determination to move forward regardless of the controversy surrounding the publication.
“Truth requires no defense only time. I will continue to move forward with integrity, dignity, and unwavering faith.”
With his legal team now involved, the dispute appears to have entered a new phase, as Churchill seeks to clear his name while warning against the spread of what he insists are false and defamatory allegations.
