The family of late Nollywood veteran Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced the remaining programmes for his burial rites and celebration of his life and career.
Ogogo died at the age of 66 on Sunday, August 23, 2026. His death was announced by fellow veteran actor Jide Kosoko, prompting an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, friends, fans and other members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The veteran actor was buried according to Islamic rites in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 24. Several prominent figures from the Yoruba film industry attended the burial, including Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko and Femi Adebayo.
8th-Day Fidau Prayer Holds August 31
According to an announcement made by Jide Kosoko on behalf of Ogogo’s family, the 8th-day Fidau Prayer for the late actor will take place on Monday, August 31, in Ilaro.
The prayer is part of the remaining Islamic burial rites planned by the family as they continue to mourn the veteran actor.
The family appealed to Ogogo’s friends, colleagues, fans and well-wishers to continue supporting them during the difficult period.
Kosoko urged those who knew the late actor to attend the Fidau in large numbers and join the family in praying for his soul.
The family also prayed that Almighty Allah would grant Ogogo eternal rest and admit him into Al-Jannah Firdaus.
Family Announces Artists’ Day
Beyond the religious rites, the family has also announced a special Artists’ Day to celebrate Ogogo’s contribution to the entertainment industry.
The event is scheduled to take place 40 days after his burial at the Pavilion Hall in Ilaro.
The programme will bring together professionals from different areas of the entertainment industry, including actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other performers.
The family described the gathering as a fitting tribute to the late actor and an opportunity for his colleagues to celebrate his life, career and lasting impact on Yoruba cinema.
The Artists’ Day will be coordinated by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).
