Nigeria’s representative at Miss World 2026, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, has advanced to the next stage of the global pageant after winning the African Top Model title in Vietnam.

The Nigerian beauty queen impressed judges during the Top Model contest held as part of Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII.

The fashion event, organised under the theme “Soul of Heritage,” brought together contestants from across the continent and provided them with a platform to showcase poise, style and confidence.

Karibi-George finished ahead of delegates from Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa to claim the African honour.

Her performance has now guaranteed her a place in the Top 40 of this year’s Miss World competition, putting her among the contestants who have already secured their passage into the quarterfinals.

The Miss World Organisation announced four continental Top Model winners following the event.

The Dominican Republic emerged for the Americas and Caribbean, France took the European slot, while host nation Vietnam won the Asia and Oceania category.

Nigeria’s success therefore gave Africa one of the four automatic positions available through the challenge.

For Karibi-George, the result marks another important moment in her campaign. She had earlier competed in the Head-to-Head Challenge and progressed to the African finalists.

That contest ultimately went the way of South Africa’s Romanda Hombir, who claimed the continental victory and secured her own place in the Top 40.

Karibi-George has now earned her qualification through a different route, strengthening Nigeria’s hopes of making a deep run in the competition.

Her Top Model victory also provides valuable momentum as the pageant moves towards its decisive stages.

Not every contestant will receive an automatic place through the Top Model category.

Additional spots in the quarterfinal lineup are expected to be filled through other Miss World challenges, including People’s Choice, Beauty With a Purpose, Head-to-Head and Multimedia.

With her place already secured, Karibi-George can now focus on the next phase of the competition and the opportunity to continue Nigeria’s challenge for the Miss World crown.

Her latest accomplishment has given the Nigerian delegation plenty to celebrate in Vietnam and further highlighted the country’s strong presence in the international pageant.

The attention will now shift to Karibi-George’s performance in the Top 40 as she looks to advance even further in the competition.
