Lagos, Nigeria; 26 August 2026: Africa Magic has renewed long-running sitcom My Flatmates for a milestone 10th season, extending one of its most enduring comedy franchises on Nigerian television.
Co-created by ace comedian Bright “Basketmouth” Okpocha and late filmmaker and director Kayode Peters, the series will continue its run as a weekday staple across Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv, where it has maintained steady viewership since launch.
“Reaching 10 seasons is a rare milestone in television and it speaks to the enduring strength of My Flatmates within Africa Magic’s comedy slate,” says Atinuke Babatunde, Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa at MultiChoice Nigeria.
She adds: “The series continues to resonate with audiences because it reflects familiar realities through humor and relatable storytelling. This is what makes this renewal especially meaningful, and we are committed to continue investing in content that remains a consistent favourite with our audiences.”
Set around a group of eccentric friends navigating shared living, financial strain and everyday chaos, My Flatmates has become one of the most recognizable contemporary sitcoms on Nigerian television, anchored by its mix of satire, slapstick and social commentary.
Across its run, My Flatmates has featured a number of fan-favourite characters portrayed by actors including Bright "Basketmouth" Okpocha, Steve Onu (Yaw), Buchi, Bethel Njoku (Senator), Wofai Fada and several notable Nollywood guest stars. Viewers have followed memorable storylines ranging from Frank's prolonged engagement limbo with Mimi to Chief Donatus' string of questionable business schemes.
Produced by Barons World Entertainment in partnership with Africa Magic, My Flatmates is part of other long-running scripted series on West African television.
Production on season 10 is currently ongoing with no premiere date announced yet.
