Nigerian rapper Ms Jorji has accused popular dancer and entertainer Iweh Pascal Odinaka, better known as Poco Lee, of attempting to sexually assault her and her female friend during an alleged encounter in Dallas, Texas, in 2024.
The allegation comes amid reports surrounding Poco Lee’s reported legal issues and arrest in the United Kingdom.
Ms Jorji made the allegation while recounting what she described as a disturbing experience during a recent discussion. According to the rapper, she and her friend visited Poco Lee’s apartment after he invited them over.
She explained that her reason for accepting the invitation was partly professional, as she hoped to receive mentorship and advice that could help her progress in her music career.
However, Ms Jorji alleged that what started as a potentially beneficial meeting quickly became uncomfortable when the entertainer allegedly made unwanted sexual advances towards her.
Ms Jorji Recounts Alleged Encounter
According to the rapper, the situation escalated when Poco Lee allegedly directed similar advances towards her friend.
Ms Jorji claimed the entertainer attempted to force her friend into another room, raising fears about what could happen if the two women remained in the apartment.
She said she and her friend resisted the alleged advances and fought back before eventually managing to leave the premises.
“Two years ago, Pocolee tried to rape my friend and me; we ended up beating him and pushing him off,” she said.
The rapper claimed that after leaving the apartment, she and her friend immediately drove away from the location.
She said they spent several hours travelling back to their destination that night, describing the experience as one that left them frightened and shaken.
Why She Did Not Speak Out Immediately
Ms Jorji also addressed why she did not publicly discuss the alleged incident when it reportedly happened in 2024.
She said fear and intimidation played a significant role in her decision to remain silent.
According to the rapper, she was worried that people might not believe her allegations because of Poco Lee’s position and influence within the Nigerian entertainment industry.
She suggested that speaking out against a well-known personality could have exposed her to criticism or caused people to question her account of what allegedly happened.
Her decision to discuss the incident now brings the allegation into the public domain nearly two years after the alleged encounter.
Claims About Sexual Demands In Entertainment
While discussing the alleged experience, Ms Jorji also spoke about what she described as a wider problem within the entertainment industry.
The rapper alleged that sexual demands or propositions linked to career opportunities are not uncommon in the music business.
She claimed that she had personally encountered similar propositions from other individuals within the entertainment industry on multiple occasions.
According to her, aspiring artistes can sometimes find themselves in uncomfortable situations when seeking opportunities, mentorship or professional connections.
She used her experience to highlight what she described as the pressure some upcoming entertainers face while trying to establish themselves in the competitive Nigerian music industry.
Poco Lee Yet To Respond
Poco Lee has not publicly responded to Ms Jorji’s allegations at the time of writing.
The claims remain allegations, and there has been no independent confirmation of the incident described by the rapper.
The allegations also come at a time when Poco Lee has reportedly been linked to legal issues and an arrest in the United Kingdom, although the circumstances surrounding those reports are separate from Ms Jorji’s account.
Until Poco Lee responds or further evidence emerges, the claims made by Ms Jorji remain unverified.
The rapper’s decision to speak publicly about the alleged encounter has nevertheless sparked renewed conversations about boundaries, consent, power dynamics and the experiences of emerging artistes within the entertainment industry.
