The daughter of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Adeshina, widely known by his popular stage name Elegbeje Ado, has publicly appealed to well-wishers and members of the entertainment community for financial assistance as the family prepares to lay him to rest.

Adeshina passed away on June 29 at the age of 66 following a short battle with illness. News of his passing was first made public by fellow actor Kunle Afod, who paid tribute to him as one of the most respected and influential figures within the Yoruba film industry.

In a video circulated online, the late actor's daughter opened up about the financial strain the family is facing in organizing a proper burial.

She revealed that funeral rites for her father have been scheduled to take place over two days, August 20 and 21.

Afod, who paid a personal visit to the grieving family, offered them N200,000 in support and used the opportunity to call on Nigerians, particularly those within the entertainment industry, to contribute toward giving the veteran actor a dignified send-off.

Sharing the visit online, he captioned it with a direct appeal highlighting the family's need for support during this difficult period.

This was not Afod's first gesture toward the family. He had previously shared footage from an earlier visit made shortly after Adeshina's death, during which he expressed his condolences and reflected on the actor's legacy within Nollywood's Yoruba-language film sector.

Adeshina built a career spanning more than 20 years in the industry, becoming a familiar face known especially for portraying traditional rulers, community elders, herbalists, and other characters deeply rooted in Yoruba culture and folklore.

It was one such role that gave rise to his enduring stage name, Elegbeje Ado, a title that eventually became inseparable from his public identity.

Beyond his acting career, Adeshina was also active in Christian ministry. In the latter part of his life, he shifted much of his focus toward pastoral work, blending his faith with his craft by increasingly involving himself in faith-based film projects.

Following news of his death, tributes poured in from colleagues, fans, and figures across the Yoruba film industry, many of whom highlighted his lasting contributions to the growth and cultural richness of indigenous Nigerian cinema.

Kunle Afod was among the most vocal, using his platform to both mourn his colleague and rally support for the family left behind.

As burial preparations continue, the family's appeal reflects a broader and familiar reality within Nigeria's entertainment industry, where colleagues and fans often step in to support one another during times of loss, especially when formal financial safety nets are limited.
