Nollywood actor Abimbola Kazeem, popularly known as Jigan Baba Oja, has distanced himself from an upcoming event organised to celebrate the life and legacy of late veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
The actor raised concerns after discovering that his name and photograph had been included in promotional materials for the event without his knowledge or consent.
The programme, tagged TAMPAN Egba Zone Artistes Night, is scheduled to take place on August 29, 2026. It is reportedly being organised by the TAMPAN Egba Zone as part of activities to honour the late actor and celebrate his contributions to the Yoruba movie industry.
Several entertainment personalities were listed on the event flyer, with ticket prices reportedly ranging from ₦2,000 to ₦250,000.
However, Jigan made it clear that he was not involved in the programme and would not be attending.
In a statement shared with his followers, the actor said, “I, Abimbola Kazeem, popularly known as JiganbabaOja, have no involvement in the matter currently trending. I do not support, nor will I ever be part of such actions for any reason.”
Jigan further stressed that his decision was based on his desire to protect the reputation and integrity he has built throughout his career.
He maintained that he would not associate himself with activities merely because they were attracting public attention or generating conversations online.
The actor also urged his fans, family members, associates and well-wishers to disregard any information suggesting that he supports the event or intends to participate in it.
His clarification has generated attention because his image was prominently displayed on the promotional flyer despite his claim that he had no prior knowledge of the programme.
The controversy comes amid ongoing tributes to Taiwo Hassan, whose death recently left members of the Yoruba film industry and his numerous admirers mourning.
Ogogo, who was a respected figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry, reportedly died after battling cancer. His death prompted tributes from colleagues, friends and fans who celebrated his decades-long contribution to Yoruba-language cinema.
He was subsequently buried in Ilaro, Ogun State, as members of the entertainment community gathered to pay their final respects.
While the TAMPAN Egba Zone event is intended to honour his memory, Jigan Baba Oja has now made his position clear, insisting that he has no connection to the programme and should not be presented as one of its participants.
His statement is expected to put to rest speculation surrounding his appearance on the event flyer and clarify to members of the public that his name and image were used without his approval.
