Nigerian media entrepreneur Mo Abudu is set to expand her entertainment brand internationally with the launch of EbonyLife Place London, a new venue designed to promote African and Black cinema and culture in the United Kingdom.
The project is scheduled to open in October and will be located on Wandsworth Road in London. Abudu announced the development alongside a video offering a glimpse of the new property and described it as a destination that will bring together film, food, music, fashion and visual arts.
EbonyLife Place London is expected to stand out as a dedicated platform for African and Black films, giving filmmakers and audiences a specialised space to experience stories connected to African culture and the wider Black community.
However, the venue is being designed to offer more than movie screenings. Visitors will have access to a range of spaces intended to create a broader entertainment and cultural experience.
Among the planned facilities are the Grand Reception, Afrobeat Restaurant, Fèhintì Lounge, Maji Concession & Bar, Zuri Retail and The Living Wall Gallery.
These additions are expected to combine hospitality, entertainment, fashion and art within the same location.
The London project represents an expansion of the EbonyLife Place concept, which already has a presence in Lagos. The new venue is also expected to provide opportunities for cultural programmes, creative activities, exhibitions and live entertainment.
The development includes a 180-seat cinema, while additional areas are planned for restaurants, fashion retail and art exhibitions.
These facilities are expected to support the venue’s broader ambition of becoming a meeting point for audiences interested in African creativity.
The project has also attracted attention from the UK government as part of efforts to deepen investment and creative links between Nigeria and Britain. According to the information provided, the development could create as many as 40 jobs in the UK.
For Abudu, the London expansion further strengthens the international reach of the EbonyLife brand, which encompasses several businesses and creative platforms.
These include EbonyLife Media, EbonyLife Films, EbonyLife Studios, EbonyLife Creative Academy and EbonyLife Place in Lagos.
With its October opening approaching, EbonyLife Place London is positioned to provide a new platform for African storytelling while introducing audiences in the UK to a wider blend of African-inspired entertainment, cuisine, fashion, music and art.
