There is something familiar about Married to a Baddie from the moment you see the title. It immediately tells you the kind of film you are about to watch. This is a Nollywood romantic drama built around relationships, attraction and the complications that come when two people have to deal with each other beyond the excitement of romance.
Starring Chinenye Nnebe and Ike Ogbonna, the movie falls comfortably into the type of Nigerian romantic film that puts its leading actors at the centre of the experience. Characterisation

A good romantic drama needs characters who feel like real people rather than characters created simply to move the story from one scene to another. The more developed the personalities are, the easier it becomes for viewers to understand their decisions.
Married to a Baddie has interesting character material to work with, particularly because of the personality suggested by the title. A “baddie” can mean different things depending on how the story chooses to interpret the word confidence, attitude, independence, beauty or even difficult behaviour.
That idea could have been explored more deeply.
Instead of simply using the “baddie” identity as part of the romantic attraction, the film could have spent more time showing what makes the character that way and how that personality affects the relationship. That would have given the romance more depth and made the title mean more than just a catchy phrase.
Dialogue
The dialogue is another area where the film feels very much like contemporary Nollywood.
The conversations are generally easy to follow, and the actors deliver them naturally enough. However, not every line has the weight or originality needed to make the characters stand out.
Romantic films depend heavily on dialogue because so much of the story is carried through conversations between the couple. Pacing

Direction and production
The direction keeps the film within the familiar Nollywood romantic-drama formula. There is nothing particularly distracting about the presentation, and the movie is clearly designed to be accessible to a broad audience.
The cinematography serves the story rather than trying to become the story. The camera work and visual presentation are functional, allowing the actors and relationship to remain the focus.
The sound also plays its expected role in supporting the emotional atmosphere. For a romance, music can make a major difference, particularly during emotional scenes, and the film understands the importance of creating that mood.
Still, from a production standpoint, there is room for greater polish. The movie has the foundation of a contemporary Nollywood production, but a stronger visual identity could have made it feel more distinctive.
Entertainment value
This is probably where Married to a Baddie succeeds most comfortably.
Not every movie needs to be a groundbreaking piece of cinema. Sometimes viewers simply want a romantic story they can sit down and watch without having to work too hard to understand it.
That is what this movie offers.
It has familiar Nollywood faces, a romantic setup and enough relationship drama to keep viewers interested. Chinenye Nnebe and Ike Ogbonna are also a good combination for this kind of story, and their presence gives the movie a solid centre.
The film may not completely surprise viewers who have watched a lot of Nollywood romance, but familiarity does not automatically make a movie bad. What matters is whether the familiar ingredients are put together well enough to remain entertaining.

It may not be the most inventive romantic film Nollywood has produced, but it has enough going for it particularly its lead performances and central relationship to make it worth a watch for fans of the genre.
