Nollywood stars Kate Henshaw, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman and Gideon Okeke are set to headline a new stage production inspired by Bobo Omotayo’s popular 2011 book, London Life, Lagos Living.

The theatrical adaptation is scheduled to take place in Lagos later this month, bringing together a mix of established actors and performers for a production that explores the realities of living between Nigerian and British cultures.

The three-day show will be staged at the Black Diamond Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, from August 28 to 30, 2026. Other members of the cast include Olarotimi Fakunle, Chioma Omeruah, popularly known as Chigul, and Sola Roberts.

Originally published as a collection of humorous observations about life between London and Lagos, Omotayo’s work touches on subjects such as relationships, social class, ambition, cultural identity and the often amusing differences between life in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

The stage production seeks to transform those observations into a lively theatrical experience combining acting, music and movement.

Rather than relying on a conventional theatre arrangement, the production will be presented in the round, placing members of the audience within the performance environment.

This approach is expected to create a more intimate connection between the performers and spectators while allowing the story to unfold from different perspectives.

Kenneth Uphopho, who serves as the artistic director and has previously worked on adapting the material for the stage, is overseeing the theatrical interpretation.

The production uses comedy as a major storytelling device, drawing from familiar experiences such as Lagos traffic, electricity challenges, Nigerian social interactions, food and the contrasting attitudes often encountered in Britain and Nigeria.

The project is being produced through a collaboration between Temple Productions and Pawstudios Africa. Ego Boyo, who leads Temple Productions, described the production as an opportunity to examine questions surrounding identity, belonging and the experience of returning home after living abroad.

For Pawstudios Africa, the production also represents an opportunity to showcase a distinctly Lagosian perspective through theatre.

The producers aim to capture the city's energy, humour and cultural diversity while presenting a story that can resonate with Nigerians in the diaspora and audiences who have experienced life across different cultures.

Performances are scheduled for 7pm on Friday, August 28, followed by 4pm and 7pm shows on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are available through Tix Africa.

With a cast featuring some of Nollywood’s familiar faces and a storyline rooted in everyday Nigerian experiences, London Life, Lagos Living is positioned as a production that combines comedy, music and cultural commentary.

Its exploration of the relationship between home and abroad could offer audiences an entertaining look at the challenges and humour that come with navigating two different worlds.
