Jude Okoye has publicly responded to the allegations levelled against him by his younger brother, Peter Okoye, saying the claims do not match the facts and insisting that records already before investigators and the court tell a different story.
In a detailed video titled "Debunking the Lies," the former P-Square manager addressed several issues Peter recently raised, explaining that many of them had already been examined during investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He noted that the dispute is now before the court and said he would only speak on points he believed needed to be corrected
A major part of Jude's response focused on Peter's allegation that he and Paul Okoye diverted a royalty payment of about $25,000. Rejecting the accusation, Jude explained that the payment was processed based on instructions Peter personally gave years earlier.
To support his position, Jude referred to an email from digital distributor Iroko, which he said clearly showed Peter requested that his own share of the royalties be paid directly to him. According to Jude, the remaining balance, which belonged to him and Paul, was then paid into the Northside Entertainment account in line with those instructions.
Jude also addressed claims that Peter was removed as a signatory to the company's bank accounts. Displaying what he described as the official bank mandate, he maintained that Peter remained a signatory to all P-Square accounts throughout the period in question. He added that the same documents had already been presented before the court as part of the ongoing case.
Another issue he touched on was Peter's claim that it took three and a half months for him to receive access to P-Square's music catalogue backend records. Jude gave a different account of events, saying the request was made in October 2022 and fulfilled just six days later. He further claimed that download records showed the files were accessed on the same day they were sent, arguing that there was no unnecessary delay.
On the question of royalty payments, Jude also disagreed with Peter's statement that he had never received payments in dollars until recently. To back up his position, he displayed what he described as previous royalty payment records, maintaining that Peter had been receiving dollar-denominated royalties as far back as 2012.
Responding to another allegation that more than $1.2 million in royalties had been diverted, Jude insisted that every payment was properly documented and shared according to the agreements already in place. He said the financial records did not support the figures being alleged.
While making his case, Jude accused Peter of attempting to shape public opinion through social media even though the matter remains before the court. He maintained that he would not discuss issues that are still part of the legal proceedings beyond correcting what he described as "false narratives."
The disagreement between the Okoye brothers has once again brought renewed attention to the long-running dispute surrounding P-Square's finances and management. With both sides maintaining different accounts of what happened, the matter is expected to be resolved through the legal process rather than public exchanges.
Jude's latest statement comes just days after Peter Okoye publicly accused him of diverting P-Square's royalties through a separate company, Northside Music Limited. Peter also alleged that he was denied access to the group's financial records and claimed more than $1.2 million in royalties had been diverted, allegations that form part of the ongoing court case. Jude has denied the claims, insisting that the royalty payments and financial transactions were properly documented and carried out in line with existing agreements.
