The renewed crisis within the Okoye family has taken another turn after Henry Okoye, the elder brother of former P-Square members Peter and Paul Okoye, made fresh allegations against their brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
Speaking in an interview with Nollyserve published on YouTube on Friday, Henry accused Jude of playing a major role in the breakdown of relationships between the twins and other members of their family.
Henry also challenged the narrative that Jude was solely responsible for building P-Square into one of Africa’s biggest music acts, insisting that the twins received significant support from their family before Jude became involved in their career.
Henry Recounts P-Square’s Early Days
According to Henry, the family played an important role in supporting Peter and Paul when they were still struggling to establish themselves in the music industry.
He recalled travelling with the twins to different states for performances and using his personal resources to support their promotional activities.
“When they started this music, they were looking for sponsors. They didn’t get a sponsor. When I started sponsoring them, Jude was not there,” Henry said.
He added that he travelled with the brothers, helped with security and allowed them to use his car for promotional activities.
“We would travel from state to state for music. They used my car for flyers. I did bodyguard with them. We were supporting them as a family, but we knew it was Peter and Paul that owned it,” he said.
Claims Jude Joined Later
Henry alleged that Jude only became involved after the twins had started gaining recognition.
He further claimed that their late mother, Josephine Okoye, initially expressed reservations about Jude managing the group because of concerns about his character.
“Before you could know it, Jude came in. We wanted to allow Jude to manage them, but my mum disagreed. She said she knew the kind of character Jude had,” he alleged.
Henry claimed that the family’s relationship with Peter and Paul began to deteriorate after Jude assumed a greater role in their affairs.
“What happened at last is that they started running away from everybody. We never knew that it was Jude that was causing the problem,” he said.
Henry Claims He Was Promised 20 Per Cent
The elder Okoye brother also spoke about an alleged financial agreement concerning his contribution to the twins’ early career.
Henry claimed he was promised 20 per cent from each performance because of the financial and logistical support he provided during their formative years.
However, he alleged that the arrangement was later rejected by Jude.
“Before they started all these things going on, they promised me 20% in each show, but nobody has given me,” he claimed.
Henry alleged that Jude later questioned why he was entitled to the percentage, creating further tension within the family.
Claims Jude Ignored Him During Hospitalisation
Henry also alleged that his relationship with Jude has deteriorated to the point where they have not spoken for between one and two years.
He claimed that he spent two months in hospital but received calls from Peter and Paul while Jude allegedly never contacted him.
“Almost a year to two years, I’m not talking to Jude. He doesn’t talk to me,” he said.
“I was admitted into the hospital for two months. Peter used to call me. Paul used to call me. Jude never called me once to know how I’m feeling.”
He also claimed that another member of the family has been experiencing difficulties in Lagos without sufficient support.
Henry Wants The Twins To Reconcile
Despite his accusations, Henry said he wants Peter and Paul to reunite and rebuild their relationship.
However, he expressed doubts about the possibility of reconciliation, alleging that Jude’s influence has contributed significantly to the brothers’ continued separation.
“I’ll be happy for them to come back together, but the problem I’m having is that I don’t think they’ll come back because Jude has made all of us become enemies,” he lamented.
Henry also expressed concern about what he described as a significant change in Paul’s attitude towards the family.
He recalled Paul as the “nicest person” in the family before suggesting that his behaviour later changed dramatically.
Fresh Chapter In Okoye Family Dispute
Henry’s comments come amid a renewed public dispute involving Peter, Paul and Jude.
Peter has recently released a series of videos detailing his version of events surrounding the family’s disagreements, making allegations concerning finances, management and other disputes.
He has also challenged the narrative that Jude alone was responsible for P-Square’s success, highlighting Henry’s contributions during the group’s early years.
The latest allegations from Henry add another perspective to the long-running family dispute, which has continued to attract widespread public attention.
